French TV newsreport : MS's injuries are serious (crane trauma), a brain surgeon has been sent to the Grenoble hospital where he is being treated. His family is with him, and next few hours will determine the actual extent of his injury.

Is it me or does contradictory reports without a firm and official statement till this late make you feel edgy as well?

Yea, this always gets the anxiety going.

I'm concerned at the line Google translated as 'condition deteriorated'.

The past few hours have seen a lot of contradictory stories flying about, upsetting people. Inevitable, I suppose when so many people are really worried and therefore desperate to hear news, any news.

Hoping for the best.

Panis says nothing very interesting, basically that he was not able to see him and would try again tomorrow

But that website has a scary news: at 7:20 pm they say his state has now degraded and his life is under threat!!???

I can't believe it  :(

An intercranial haemorrage is very serious and will require emergency surgery, but with the best care available and the prompt attention he has received so far, he should be able to make a full recovery. I suffered a similar injury when I was a small child, and it wasn't treated until the following day, but after an emergency operation I made a full recovery. Schumacher is of course much older, but his high fitness level will be an asset. I just hope that the previous head injury from the motorcycling accident isn't complicating things.

I still hope they're exaggerating to get more attention, however sick that would be.

I bet he's reading this and causing further injury by laughing his head off!

It's usually not good when it takes so long to get a statement out there.

On the 3rd of January he will be 45. Damn I really hope he will get well but last news from dauphine (which is a serious french local newspaper) are not good. I'm anxious.

That french website said at 7:40 pm that the management team of MS would issue a statement in the next hour, it is now 8:47... Might still be there any minute

Well they obviously have no time to sit around and talk in front of cameras. I am afraid the statement will just confirm what we already know

Let's not believe everything that's been said in the BILD, it's the worst german newspaper ever. In fact, it so bad that you'd insult dead fish if you wrap it up in one of their pages.

Oh gosh, I'm really worried now. This reminds me of when Massa was injured, I stayed awake nearly all night then, fearing the worst...and that turned out all right. Hoping for the same for Michael...fingers crossed...

No one in the press knows anything for sure. Anything reported right now other than the official word is simply to get readers.

The official statement will tell us. I hope it's positive news.

I've stayed away from forums/social media today for this exact reason. Pointless speculation and panic.

Get well soon Schumi.

The Build afaik is reporting what others are reporting, I don't think they got first hand access. However there is a mistake in the linked article, Gérard Saillant is a trauma/orthopedic surgeon not a neurosurgeon. In fact he operated on Schumi after his Silverstone 1999 accident, and my personal opinion is him going to Grenoble is more to do with him acting as a consultant for Michael and his family rather than providing him with medical/surgical care. Saillant is very very close with Jean Todt.

At first, when I heard the news in the beginning of the afternoon I didn't pay too much attention. The news were not bad: conscious, not very bad injury but when I watched the national news on French TV (France 2) at 8.00 PM (7 in UK) it was "dramatic". France 2 is not known to be a sensational tv but to be very serious. So it's why now I'm very worried. Damn...

Oh, this is agonizing.

This is real life not a movie script by the way just to remind everyone. Talk about Chinese whisper and news agencies looking to promote themselves with the juiciest story they can interpret out of the situation.

As far as I know, excess pressure is more common problem than bleeding if you hit your head. In mild cases they just cool the head temperature, in extreme case they remove the upper skull for a few months.

A neurologist was talking on BFM TV. He said -  and it can be surprising - that sometimes in such accident, medical pronostic can take hours and sometimes even days!
