I can only assume you merely watched the highlights of that race, and missed how Glock indicated that he wanted to help his old GP2 buddy. He didn't lose control.

This is where we disagree, I am surprised it gets forgotten so much. It showed the extremes Alonso was willing to go if Schumi was not punished. If Lewis, Seb or even Alonso said this in 2014, the media would have a field day. To threaten to physically lie in front of a F1 car in protest is not something that sounds like a stable man.

 

There' some minor difference between saying something and doing something. A Hamilton fan should know that difference well enough.

 

Or take Kimi, you sure can see the difference between him saying about another driver "someone should punch him in the face" and him actually doing it?

 

That's why Alonso's words from Monaco 2006 are no big deal for most people.

I'm a fan of Button, Rosberg and a bit of Sutil. I like most drivers though. Not Alonso and Maldonado though.

Well anyway, from your favourite drivers it's Rosberg who I think is underrated and is, maybe not only probably, the best German driver.

 

Yeah, I agree to an extent, but Hamilton didn't act like that, for example. And the poignant issue is that Alonso behaves like that EVEN when his team mate isn't competitive. Piquet? Massa? I'm sorry but those drivers aren't good enough (in comparison to Alonso) to justify his bitchiness. Though, again, I do agree with you, up to a point.

Regarding Piquet, you have to keep in mind that Alonso was quite a favourite for the win in Singapur 2008. As far as I remember, he was about to achieve a good qualifiying time when he faced technical issues with his car. OK, that probably doesn't justify the measures which were taken in the race. But he was about to achieve maybe a sensational win by having a good qualifiying position in a very bad car. After that aim was destroyed, oh well...

 

And regarding Massa, you have to keep in mind that Alonso was indeed faster in Hockenheim 2010 and the championship was about to slip away (and I mean really was about to slip away) and Massa was already not in a competitive position in the WDC standings. Key point is Alonso was faster and the championship standings demanded for the teamorder. After he said "this is ridiculous", Massa couldn't pull away from him (as e.g. Webber did after Vettel said "Mark is too slow, get him out of the way"). He was faster than Massa who happened not to be blocked by Vettel as brutally as Vettel did with Alonso at the start. So Alonso fell behind Massa.

 

Apart from that, I didn't hear Alonso complaining when the WDC standings were even and he had to stay behind Massa in Melbourne 2010 or Istanbul 2010.

 

For example, I loath the teamorder in Austria 2002, but even, as a not die-hard fan of Schumacher (to put it mildly), I can see the urgency from Ferrari to do teamorders in Austria 1998...

 

People have to be objective and differentiate between teamorders and teamorders.

Although I am a die-hard Alonso- and Hamilton-fan, he kinda did in Monaco 2007. He said something between the lines like, "What can I do? In the end, I am the driver with the "2" on the car." That was kinda unfair. The team was playing safe in Monaco and the probability of getting past without creating a nuclear situation in the race (i.e. both drivers out) was very little for Hamilton on a track like Monaco with a driver like Alonso having the same material driving infront of him...

Kimi saying that is like the old saying "I could kill him" which people casually use from time to time as a expression. Alonso was actually specifying a action, its not like people say casually "I could lie down in front of that guys F1 car" is it?

 

I get your point, but we will never know if he would have actually done it, I happen to think he was deadly serious.

Funny thing is: if others complain about their cars/Ferraris (i.e. "truck") already in the first season of its sh**ness (1991) and Alonso does it in the third or fourth season of its sh**ness ("fourth" if you include the 2010 season where the car has already been sh**) then I don't know why Alonso is considered to be such a crybaby compared to others.

 

If Prost already did it in 1991 after a great car in 1990, then Alonso had every right to complain in 2013 after having rubbish cars for multiple seasons without fearing getting his ear tweaked.

 

And compared to the 2011 Ferrari the 1991 version was probably not worse (Alesi got some podiums and Massa none... Prost could qualify a few times as second and Alonso one time) so that Alonso had all the right in the world to complain even back in 2011.

I do not think he is a cry baby as such, and yes you have a point that others drivers, like Prost in 1991 have complained about their car/team as well.

 

But its not just that. Alonso had attempted blackmail on McLaren, openly stated he would help Massa/Kubica to win the WDC in 2008 such was his distaste for McLaren, and even though he has calmed down was not exactly shy about stating the importance of Newey in 2012. He even in a backwards way, stated that if Vettel does not win in off-pace cars than he will become the biggest farce in F1 given his 4 titles.

 

The guys knows how to use words to make others look bad. Not saying that is always his intention, he could just be speaking his mind.

Sorry this read has been given enough rope and it's gone round in circles and strangled the life out of itself. It hasn't been discussing Massa's thoughts and feelings for a while now.
