Eddie Irvine received a six month jail sentence today following a nightclub brawl with the son of a former mayor of Milan.

Not likely to do time, as he will most likely appeal.

Eddie, you're almost 50. Stop hanging out at nightclubs. It's embarrassing.

Note to self: Get in trouble in Italy, 5 years before you have to go to court.

Because an appeal is likely from both men, legal experts in Italy have indicated that because the statute of limitations will expire at the end of 2015 the case is likely to be declared null and void.

There you go, folks.  Italian justice.  It does **** all for half-a-decade, and then it can't touch you.  What an arsepit of a legal system.

They should be made do their full six month stretch sharing the same cell.

Back in 1989 Jp was on tour in Japan with Belinda Carlisle.

After our 2nd Tokyo show we all headed off to a club called Lexington & Queen in the Roppongi district.

We were given a private corner and shortly after getting settled I went off to the bar to order drinks.

I waited patiently for my turn and as the bartender was finally taking my order some guy came barging through and yelled "2 Whiskey Sours" in my ear. As I turned around and said "DON"T YELL IN MY EAR" I realised  ...wait,....your Eddie Irvine !!!"

He ignored me and went on shouting..the bartender just rolled his eyes and said.."I see you've met Eddie the Asshole"

I laughed and took the drinks back to our area.

10 minutes later when I came back from the toilet I see a drunk Eddie the Asshole accosting my boss.

So in I went and asked him nicely to please leave her alone as she is not interested in loud mouth over blown ego drivers.

He looked at me with venom in his eyes and seemed like he was going to take a swing at me..After which he started berating Belinda and was being so rude that she threw her drink in his face.

It was classic Belinda and as we got up and left she said to him.."I was looking for your cock and noticed your fly is open"

Jp

As an aside, at least now I know what you have to do to be thrown out of Hollywood. I've been there a number of times with various bunches of drivers, and bad behaviour seems to be ignored (possibly because of the prices, to be fair). I remember one year wondering who I could hit up for a drink when Kamui came back with a half dozen bottles of champagne, all on the Toyota card, and as we picked one up he grabbed another, ran into the middle of the dancefloor and started spraying it all over everyone there.

I was sure he was going to be turfed out, but the staff just laughed.

Can't say I'm surprised by this. Irvine's pretty much the furthest from class act that you can get.

if anyone saw the GP :Legends feature on Irvine it is all summed up there quite nicely, and since has gone on to be a property magnate but only in the Caribbean coz they dont ahve as many rules there!  WTF

He was there to make money relaly, was fairly lucky, and did alright now and then

Rarely have I read about a driver with so little support from media, fans or anyone else!

Can you imagine he was very nearly World Champion, thank goodness Michael and Ferrari put a stop to that!

Agreed. Although let's take the English system:

On 24 July 2003, Irvine was arrested after being caught driving a scooter over 30 mph through Hyde Park without a licence or insurance. He was to be sentenced at Bow Street Magistrates but Irvine did not attend. An arrest warrant with bail was issued.

NO licence, NO insurance, THIRTY mph. That's three strikes right there, buddy.

He should've learned how to mumble and never say anything to the press, they'd have put his face on T-shirts then.

He actually had a licence and insurance, he just didn't produce them in the 7 days' grace.  Although I understand he was doing something north of 30...

Having said that, it was sorted in six months or so.

Senna joke's been made folks, it's over.

What I find funny is that he liked Senna so much he had his helmet almost exactly like Senna's before he entered F1. Come his first race and he gets into a fist fight with him. :rotfl:

Incident in 2008? Geez, what on earth has taken so long for it to get to court?

There is a tactic in litigation called the Italian Missile.  If you are worried about being sued, then you get in first, and issue proceedings in Italy.  Doesn't matter if the claim has nothing to do with Italy.

Because under European law no other country's court can deal with the matter until the Italian courts decline jurisdiction.  And it will take four years to get to that first jurisdiction hearing.

By which time you've hidden your stuff in Liechtenstein or negotiated a settlement or something.

The Italian legal system is known for being the most appallingly lazy in Europe - and that's against some incredibly stiff competition.

I saw him in F3000 in 89 and the 1989 Macau Grand Prix...where he wore the helmet Dolph mentions

Yep..Belinda, or as she was known then Dottie Danger, was the drummer for an LA punk band named The Germs.\

And, of course, Belinda went on to form The Go-Go's, the single best-ever American pop group in the history of the universe.

Ladies and gentlemen

This evening's feature bout here at the Loo Loo lounge will be between Pickled Irvine and Cutter Sutil.

A night club match we have all been waiting for.

Not sure about that. Sutil at least drew blood. Something Irvine apparently failed to do.

It was interesting enough but I didn't know that Irvine was a legend of F1. Legend in his own mind only surely?

Belinda Carlisle.............[sigh] just add Susanna Hoffs and Keren Woodward and that's the entire contents of my mind for most of the late 80's.

Also, I didn't realise the love-child of Merkel and Schumacher would be Rodney Trotter

What I find funny is that he liked Senna so much he had his helmet almost exactly like Senna's before he entered F1. Come his first race and he gets into a fist fight with him. :rotfl:

He tended to deny that later in his career but Yeah, it's pretty funny. Even as a fellow Ulster man and massive Jordan fan at the time I thought Irvine was a total knob, I laughed my arse off when Salo stepped into the Ferrari, stone cold and out-raced him at Hockenhiem :rotfl:
