Could someone please confrim why I dont have acces to teh Paddock Club area?
Is it for Autosport subscribers only? Or special subscribers to this forum, as I have made far more than 30 posts and can still not access that area of the forum?

Read the instructions.
Forum for FULL MEMBERS only (those with at least 30 posts on the board). The place to talk about (almost!) any non-motorsport topic, while sipping champagne and socialising with others. To gain access you have to PM the Paddock bouncer Slick and beg...

OK thanks

I'm pretty sure that posting a thread here about it means you failed the entrance exam.

The abruptness of the reply and the fact it wasnt mentioned anyway was more than enough to put me off.
Never did, never will
Rudeness is free just like politeness

So begging was probably always out of the question anyway.

Do they still do that thing where they take you into the forest at night, and tie you to a tree, naked and blindfolded?
The noise of the chainsaw still gives me nightmares. All things considered, it was barely worth it if I'm honest.
Only in winter. I still can't look at a rubber truncheon or a set of jump leads without getting flashbacks ...

It's the custard and the bells that have left the biggest imprint on me...

I can confirm that the ability to read and adhere to the instructions clearly stated on the front forum page a pre-requisite for access to the paddock club. Also note that a minimum of 30 posts is required. I do generally read all posts by the applicant to ensure that they have made a suitable contribution to the forum before granting access.

Yeah. I've joined six times.

It's how 'Slick' got his nickname so couldn't drop it now anyway.
Posted 14 January 2014 - 12:08
Interesting that a simple question seems to encourage pisstaking.
I couldn't see the notice about applying.
Rather less need for the kind of immature nonsense written here, but if it keeps you entertained...

What exactly is the Paddock Club? It has always seemed very mysterious to me. What goes on there? And am I the only person who is not a member? Not that I'm really that bothered, but I was just wondering...
Posted 14 January 2014 - 18:28
It's where we find out that other board members should not be defined by the driver or team they support, but that they are decent people with great opinions and knowledge in a wide range of professions, hobbies, and experiences.
It's rare that I don't learn something each time I delve into a thread, although it's also common that I get pissed off. Both of these are satisfying in their own way.

Of course, it's also a place where there is a fair amount of rudness, abruptness, pisstaking, nonsense both mature and immature ...
EDIT: BTW, nobody noticed that chunder27 spells "the" in the Old Fashioned Atlas Fashion.

Thank you Buttoneer and Zmeej for your replies.
Maybe one day I will dip my toe in the water over in the Paddock Club, if I am feeling brave enough, and of course if you all let me in.

Don't worry, Coral, there are even some prominent TNF denizens who partake in the Paddock Club; e.g. Vitesse and Tim Murray.

As far as I can see there is no information on what the paddock club is or how you get access to it if you visit the forum on a mobile device, it's just a link that gives you a generic "no access" error message.

Maybe you're not logged in? I can get in on an Android tablet with no problem.

I have no problem accessing it but other users using mobile devices and not paddock club members will, as far as I can see, get no information on how to access the paddock club or what it is. I don't know how chunder27 browse the forum but if it's with a mobile device his question is not so strange as there is no information for mobile users.

Chill mate, the Paddock Club has a lot of banter but most of it is in good humour. Its the best part of this site IMO and is worlds away from the RC section. You should apply, I think it'll give you a different perspective of this place.

Slick decides whether or not to let you in, the rest of us try to make you regret asking.
Just wondering, but can the slickster also get rid of trouble makers...especially those from a particularly cold country? Just asking, you understand

Best thread for ages.

Funny how a 33 post long thread can appear just because someone failed to see the clear definition that appears when you click on "Forums" and which, when it was copied in the first reply, was thought to be an "abrupt reply".
Posted 16 January 2014 - 18:22
Yep. I think it's fair to predict that he certainly wouldn't have enjoyed the massed singing of the Paddock Club song that occurs each morning. Nor the weekly covering Slick in lard and licking it off.

To be fair to the OP, Viktor is correct. If chunder27 only accessed the site via iPad, for example, he might never have seen the message.

I suspect that is on your end, a Skype plug-in has detected the date and part of the time (13 2012 20) as a phone number and has put the icon in so you can click on it and make a Skype call to it.

If you click on it does Skype make a phone call to the past? That would be fantastic.
