Is '?' supposed to be a bump because nobody bit?

If you're going to post rumours, post the source, otherwise it's just empty musing.  Where has the Boullier rumour come from and on what basis have you asserted that the lack of cash will see them miss the second test?

Amusing. A few weeks ago, Boullier was rumoured to be joining Force India. Eric wasn't very pleased about that one.

To be fair, the team itself has put out so much disinformation in recent months it can't really complain.

I am sure they will be around this season . . . well, surely they have to buy some time somehow, anyhow, to recoup at least part of the investment as a going concern. But longer is not so certain. To quote Eric:

I think now at least for 2014 and a little bit beyond, the team now can stabilize

This is rather different from teams like Williams, for example, already striking seven year deals with Mercedes as engine supplier.

After EB, does Lotus have any high profile names left to loose?

Isn't Total a Grosjean's sponsor? So as long as he is there, I believe they will stick in.

Maybe simply they do not want to be visible with PDVSA around

I'm not apologising for being skeptical, but I am impressed that he got it right two days ago, even if it was a bit of a piss-take.

Apparently Total and PDVSA did some deal . . . they partner on certain oil projects.

The PDVSA logo is reversed out of TOTAL red, oddly . . . unlike the normal PDVSA red on white.

PDVSA signage looks less prominent it was than on the Williams. I don't think it was ever announced how much the deal was worth, or for what term.

Respect is right, but there were more people making that suggestion earlier, hell even I thought of suggesting that when I realised that Ron is appointed as McLaren CEO and it leaves a void at TP level of McL and I never thought Ross would want the role since I think he does not anymore want to be "only" TP. Should have made the comment...

Now I instead make a prediction why Ross Brawn did not want this role motivated by this "Been there and done that". He has much bigger role in his sight and now remember you heard it first here:

He wants Luca di Montezemolo's position as Ferrari President when Luca retires.

Considered that also but I still think Ferrari President is closer to the action, especially now when Luca is suggesting that in the future Bernie's role will be divided by more persons as well as tighter leash of the board.

No, I stick to my view that Ross Brawn wants to be the Ferrari President.

Interview with Lopez where he discusses the exit of EB, tells he had serious health problems last year as well that two important title sponsorship deals are under discussion at Lotus.

No way a non Italian would be in charge of Ferrari edit:(ok ignore Jean Todt) . Ferrari is more than the racing team, and Brawn has no real experience on the Road car side.

Autosport reports that Yota Devices Company is buying a stake in Lotus of maybe 10%.

http://www.autosport...t.php/id/112303

Hoping this kind of "Sale" of the team can keep them alive

This illustrates what is so broken about modern F1.  Pure sponsorship deals are becoming increasingly difficult to secure.  In their place, some sponsors prefer to buy into in the team, providing a one-time influx of cash in place for shares in the team.  This, of course, is an option that can only happen so many times before the racing outfit can't afford to give up any more of the company without losing it.

Nah, they'd just dillute the current stock by increasing the number of shares. For example, Dutch serial stock swindler bussinessman Victor Muller of Spyker and Saab fame has perfected this system in which he sells new 'partners' 30% of the company before increasing the volume of shares (thereby dilluting their 30%) and selling another 30% to the next sucker investor.

Like the previous non-paying Russians?

Sirotkin had a race seat if they paid up.

Petrov would still be in F1 if they paid up.

and the list goes on.

well but it is Alisher Usmanov behind Yota so I would say that it is at least not bad. TBH I would sell whole team to him

Maybe he needs to make a thumping loss for tax purposes. The Lotus would be perfect.

Interesting. 'Sporting Director' apparently. Also this bit . . . .

Behind the scenes, a power struggle is raging. Genii boss Gerard Lopez, who is still the majority owner of the racing team with his company, has summarily declared himself team manager after the departure of Eric Boullier.

The Luxemburger wants to keep the reins in his hands while making life for his partner,  Andrew Ruhan, increasingly difficult. The Briton, to whom the team is greatly in debt, would like to take the stage himself.

Right. Next you are gonna tell me that there is a businessman also known to be an expert on global terrorism as well as renowed nuclear weapon specialist that during his little precious free time has also gained some reputation as a commentator in female nude mud wrestling, announcing he has set up a company backed up with royal family money that unfortunately is too sensitive connection to be disclosed publicly to buy at least one third of the Lotus and the money will be on their bank account already next week to be returned to the sender at a pizza parlour in Salt Lake City...

@MustangSally: I don't think there is a fight between Lopez and Ruhan. Both are friends and drove together in the 24h Dubai race in January...

But friends can fall out over money. Whether this  has happened or not, Ruhan wants his 65m back at sometime. Which is why he has put in his own man as CEO.

In the meantime, there have been a couple of interesting articles in Omnicorse.

First the bad news. Apparently, some of Lotus prize money will go straight to Renault for last year's debt on the V8s. Maybe some to Kimi too? Bernie was rambling about this . .  .  and Maldo's money by itself will not solve Lotus' money problems . . .

But the good news is that Renault has agreed a new co-operation with Enstone at Bahrain.

http://www.omnicorse...-di-cinque-anni

In contrast to the crisis meetings and blame games at RBR, Renault is being very nice to Lotus:

Jean-Michel Jalinier , President of Renault Sport F1, commented: "We are pleased to confirm our partnership with Lotus while the E22 takes to the track for the first official test. ratio between Viry and Enstone has gone from strength to strength in recent years. There has been a great partnership for the definition of the single-seater, 2014, which is the most complex in recent years for the new regulations. Hopefully this spirit of collaboration pay at the track in a season that represents a new era for F1. "

Perhaps Renault has realised it needs a proper works team after all to compete with Ferrari and Mercedes?

This could be very good news for Enstone.

Even i think Lotus is pretty much safe for a couple of years now, i just read that the guy in charge of the funny tweets Lotus have just resigned i don't think this would have an impact on the team but I'm really gonna miss this guy he was pretty funny.
