I can't see Lewis topping this . Lewis you've lost this battle brother. As pointer said this could easily be one of the best helmets on the grid. I personally love black helmets aswell he is gonna look great in that WO5.

Edit : So like a Midnight blue

Is the number on helmet will be legible for the fans at the track anyway though? Even if you put a big one on top/sides I don't think it will be useful for them. For TV viewers it will be visible only from a few limited camera angles and probably from that angles you wouldn't need to read them to distinguish who is who. Helmet was the only space where drivers could express themselves and almost half of it is already given up to sponsors. So I don't like the rule, when effectiveness of it is questionable. They should make teams to put a certain size of number stickers on their cars and it should be more than enough.

It's not black but blue.

Yeah but it's such a dark blue you can barely notice it. Although it may be clearer on camera.

It's hard to tell the colour with the Instagram filter he has put on.

Here is a photo of Nico's new lid.  I kind of like it, it's a nice change after having the yellow and grey for 3 seasons.

I think I actually like this one!

This is what we consider a great helmet now? A chrome number?

Ok this is F1 but still ... why would it be?

Because it's F1 ;) And "6" is easier to read/recognize than "VI"

Well, it's a simple and easily recognisable design and therefore much better than the generic cluttered madness that seems to have become the norm in the last decade. Not sure i'd call it a great design though.

Instagram for you. Why people insist on taking a photo, before ruining the quality of it, I've absolutely no idea. Would be nice to get a clear image, but I guess we'll have to wait till testing.

I would say so.  I personally like it because there is no linear reference to speed.  There are no tearing lines or strong diagonals referencing how "fast" the driver is going and his apparent "need for speed".

Clean blocks of color (or chrome in this case) and strong divisions of space that flow with the shape of the helmet.   Sorry did I take that too far???????  :rotfl:

Is that even allowed? Using Roman numbers?

As long as theyre not R8man numerals

What gets me is that logo in the middle of the IV, Thomas Sabo. It looks like it is a sticker stuck on at the last moment.

I wonder if drivers will be allowed to use roman numbers on their cars, like VI. Don't think so.

Ricciardo's helmet looks like a team of twenty designers worked on it, and couldn't agree on anything.

Ricciardo's could use more Red Bull logos.

I do like that colour orange though, but that's about where it stops

It's nearly identical to his Toro Rosso lid isn't it?

Also, isn't the race number suppose to be visible on the side of the helmet?

I need to get a better glimpse of it.

Didn't like his design last year, and sadly it looks to be an evolution of that one.

What do you mean with yellow writing? You mean the 'Iceman' logo?

----
Easy to distinguish both Ferrari helmets when the drivers are in the car and not fancy colours. I like both of them (even if I still prefer that white helmet Räikkönen had in 2012).

The baby blue fading into white of Ricciardo's is not my kind of thing, though.

''Iceman'' . He's had it on his helmet for years now.

Alonso's helmet gets worse every year.  His early career ones and his 2010 one were so nice.

Very simple, yet distinct design. I love it. I wish more drivers would incorporate national colours in their designs. I remember Kimi's early days with the white and blue, same thing for Mika. Simple, unique, and striking designs imo.

A bit too many lines in the bottom half, I agree.
