This is a video of Newman in the 82g the first day it was run--Laguna Seca, Dec. '81.

I was there that day but don't know who produced the video. Anyone out there know or know where to find out?

Supposedly the vid was tacked onto the end of a racing movie of some sort.

Thanks to anyone who can help with the info.

I've been informed that the Newman clip was part of the content at the end of "Circuit", a film about the '81 Can Am season.

I was there that day to do a story about the car for On Track magazine. I was supposed to go for a ride in the March with Teo Fabi who was giving the car its first run.

I ended up going for a ride with Newman himself. On our final lap the throttle stuck open going into the corkscrew. Fortunately Newman saved us from potential disaster, kicked it into neutral and we slid into the dirt unharmed.

On the ride back to the pits he explained what had happened. He was considerably less shaken by the incident than I was.

Later, after the throttle slides had been cleaned, Robin Herd asked if I'd like to drive the car.

I politely declined. I'd had enough excitement for the day.
