DTM might be better for Heikki. Last season he proved as slow/fast as Pic and vd Garde.
What now for Heikki Kovalainen?

Not that I think that it will actually happen sinfce HK appears to be as stubborn as he is foolish when it comes to staying in F1, but if one wants to see him racing with Petrov again: rather than DTM, they could go GT racing with the likes of SMP Racing (Russian team)... Mika Salo is sharing their Ferrari with three Russians this weekend at Daytona

What? Do you think anybody in Finland knows anything about Indy 500 or Le Mans? They only care about F1 and WRC.

That's like saying Norwegians only know about wintersports, a bit about rally and rallycross.

So, would you say that more than 1% of the Norwegians know who won Indy 500 and Le Mans last year?

Well I reckon (in approximate order): baldness, impotence, arthritis, senility, incontinence and death...
Have a nice day!

Not sure you can relate DTM to F1.
A lot of guys who have gone to DTM have looked really silly. (Alesi, Ralf, etc.)
He's a young, very personable guy. Maybe he should do something different . . . even knit some of those cool Scandinavian jumpers. Or open a reindeer steakhouse.
I am impressed by people like Brundle and Alguersuari, who got themselves a life after F1.

Yep. I think ultimately F1 will go to electric engines as well. Heikki has experience with Mclaren and Renault, could help test the cars and assist the teams, probably in a driver role first, manager role later on.

Disagree, only in the US and certain fans. WHo knows who won Indy 500 that much vs the guy who beat MS in the race of champions and was made to look bad by Lewis and was broken by Flav.
What???
I'm sure Indycars would become very popular in Finland if an Finnish driver was a soldi frontrunner.

Russian DTM journalist Sergey Bednaruk said, that info about Kovalainen is probably reliable.

Heikki is very good driver, but he doesn`t understand modern F1 rules. Only top drivers can perform without sponsors. He can`t understand, that it`s normal to bring money for team, even if you are good driver (Sutil, Kobayashi, Perez). A pity, but if he will not change his mind, he will not perform in F1, even if he is better, than half of drivers on the grid.
BTW, I surpised his 2007 has comparison with Chilton-2013. Heikki comfortably beat Fisichella, who is great driver, in his debut season and had podium in Fuji. HK was always in fight, so his 16 of 17 finishes is smth more valuable, than Chilton`s 20 of 20. His second best season was 2011, when he destroyed Trulli and was in top-10 of prinicipals rating and in top-5 of Allen`s rating.
I heard, he will have tests in DTM, but as a rule F1 drivers suffer there. Maybe Formula E will be better choice

Toni Vilander - WEC and Le Mans Winner, Ferrari Works Driver
JJ Lehto - Le Mans Winner, one season in CART, ALMS Champion
I'm sure they are well known amongst motorsport fans in Finland.

I was going to add Salo in, but thought he's an obvious pick given his long F1 career... Lehto's wasn't that long really, only a few full seasons.

Actually, Vilander is sadly not well known at all despite all he's archieved... gutted about it, absolute legend at that age.
Salo and Järvilehto are again more known for their F1 careers (and subsequent MTV3 commentator gigs) but not for much else - except maybe for JJ's McLaren F1 GTR days. Which is equally shame...
You are probably lying. I don't believe you.
Usko mitä haluat suomalaiset eivät siis urheiluautoja tai Indyä juuri mitenkään seuraa (vaikeaahan se on kun ei noteerata missään), mutta halusin vaan ilmoittaa että on täällä poikkeuksiakin.
(Sorry for that, had to put it there.)

I've got feeling that when Heikki took the stand-in drives for Lotus in last 2 races last year and scores no point, it upsets Tony Fernandes hence no Caterham drive for him...
Well it just my thoughts.

Heikki is a race winner, might have a little budget, and has experience with top-teams. So maybe he can get a place with one of the 2015/2016 teams, although I don't really think we will see a new team then.
That's the problem. He's driven for top teams, and was completely overshadowed by his team mates. The only times he won were because his team mates had a bad race. Heikki is an ok driver, but he's failed to shine while in a top team. At this point he's done in F1. I'd much rather see younger blood occupy a seat, like Bianchi or Frijns.

The only time he was overshadowed was against Lewis Hamilton, but even Fernando Alonso lost to Lewis.

Due to his complete lack of alpha competitiveness he will ride his undeserving status as F1 winner through progressively worse sub categories until his name no longer holds any renown.
