Not sure that ousted is the word unless he was pushed out.

What!?

No one saw that one coming.

I guess he made an impression on Dennis.

Speculation time: since he appears not to have a gardening leave does it mean he also wasn't paid ?

Wow - ouch for Lotus, but great if he does end up at McLaren, he has been impressive at Lotus in the last few years. Does Lopez have any credential to be team principle of an F1 team - whats his background, I know very little about him apart from he is involved with Genii?

Original title of this topic - "Eric Boullier ousted as Lotus Team Principal" doesn't seem to fit the situation. Edited it to "Eric Boullier leaves Lotus"

Interesting developments all around. I think Boullier will be a good replacment for Whitmarsh, he's more experienced as a TP than Sam Michael.

Lotus are losing people left, right and center. Wonder what will happen to the team, will they even show up come the first race? Even if they do, they will probably be a midfield car at best.

The Lotus situation made chuckle here and there, but now.... this is pathetic, I feel really bad for the team.

Wow! Good news for Mclaren, less so for Lotus.

Wonder what's going through Grosjean and Maldonado's heads now ...

Holy crap I am stunned. Didn't see this coming at all.

French team principal at McLaren sounds kinda weird. F1 is international this kind of thing shouldn't matter but I'm not sure everyone at McLaren will be happy with it.

Can't wait for the season to start

Bouiller will be taking some good insight in to the Renault with him to McLaren...

Him and about the 100 other people which have fled Lotus in the last few months.

There now has to be a serious doubt over if Lotus will even make it to the grid in Oz.

The sooner McLaren stops trying to be "team UK", the better. For me at least.

So the captain of the sinking ship that is lotus is now jumping ship to McLaren to take the helm.

This is good news for McLaren?

I'm not sure what happened with the whole financial situation at Lotus but isn't Boullier largely to blame?

I wonder whether any more Lotus staff will follow Boullier to Woking?

Good to see that Genii have decided to appoint someone with lots of motorsport experience to the role of team principal.[/sarcasm]

Half-expect "Grosjean to McLaren" to be part of 2015 silly season rumours, since Eric is his manager. Conflict of interests? Briatore did it all the time, but how does McLaren culture accept this?

Well it was coming...a month ago there was some speculation about him having discussions with FI and at that point it seemed evident that he had had enough and was searching for new opportunities. Macca di surprise me thou, I was expecting more int the line of midgridteams but good for him!! I think he deserves a chance on a more stable team

That's difficult to say without knowing more. It's ultimately the owners of the team to set the budget and overall strategy. Boullier may have run stuff on a day to day basis, but it seem he wasn't in control of everything (drivers, etc).

Perhaps he was tired of waiting for his paycheck in the mail.

I'm guessing that is the legal reason why personnel are able to leave immediately. If you are not paid, you are not bound by contract.
