According to race car engineering the boffins from Northampton have a functioning 2014 F1 turbo on the books. It's a shame they pulled out of the sport as they took a large financial loss. There is always the possibility that they could find a team in the future since their emphasis has returned to automotive technology.

Yes I don't think it includes the ERS. That is the area that Cosworth needs a technical alliance to develop.

If it doesnt have ERS, then whats protruding from the front of the crankcase?

Isn't that computer generated image of the engine? They haven't actually built it yet.

They should still be using portable starters

Looking at both pics from the mag the MGU-Heat is the truncated unit at the top. I don't think one can see the MGU-Kinetic as that sits next to the crank shaft and may be hidden by the exhaust manifold. The battery storage unit is absent. The more informed posters might shed some more light on it for us.

There is a rumour propagated in a leading Race engineering magazine that the Cosworth engine is a stalking horse for a Ford return even as early as 2015. I emphasise that this is only a rumour.

They have being independent in the past but still worked together havn't they, it still makes sense in the same way ilmor developed merc engines.

I guess, they have a long association.

That looks like a pretty healthy sized turbo to me.  Plenty of room under the "cranium access plate" for the H motor.

Ford/Haas F1 2015.
