That looks pretty decent, though they would need to place "Mobil1" elsewhere not to cut its logo off!

 

I am sure there will be some changes to the livery once they have announced their title sponsor.

That livery posted by cyanide looks far better. Looks like it is up to the livery designers to make the cars beauty.

 

What i'm happy about is that they have multiple front wing elements near the end plate. This is different to the 3 element fw we saw the last 3 years. At first look i thought it is a mock-up frontwing from 2013 but just the cascades are the same.

Obviously, it's putting lipstick on a pig, and from some angles it will still look odd - but fine details in the livery can make a huge difference.

No, I found it online. But it's very straightforward, simple and relatively cheap paint job. So I hope they see the image and actually take the hint.

I like the original better - more aggressive. The black paint [on the photo-shop] tends to just emphasize the cars needle nose.

Not sure...the top one looks better but I don't think we would see McLaren going for all black side walls for the nose section.

I was never a big fan of the 'airbrushing' effect of the red and black areas of the 'West' livery. It always looked a bit overdone and I thought it aged quickly.

It had to be done. Even if their senses and their understanding have become numb, these people have to see that they are creating a dumber and dumber series every year. Now we only need to hear Button say, "She's slow AND she's ugly..."

Personally I prefer how it looks currently. It looks raw and mean. The picture from F1 Technical is a confused livery; too many colours, looks a bit messy and I bet it's only a cohesive design from certain angles. Obviously it's up to McLaren fans to judge if it's 'McLaren' enough, but if Mercedes release something similar to the Woking boys (which I guess is quite likely) then I'll be happy.

Don't like the edited version in OP - it draws more attention to the nose for my liking. The original is fine.

 

Although my big gripe with the car is the colour. I'm hoping there is some difference between the Mercedes livery and this, because without the Vodafone red on the McLaren, it'll be difficult to tell them apart. My first thought when I logged on to Autosport yesterday was that Mercedes had launched their car early, particularly with the three pointed star still being prominent on the nose.

 

Wish McLaren had gone for something totally different, such as orange like had been rumoured.

I think this would've been a great livery to end the McLaren-Mercedes partnership, that's what the McLaren-Mercedes used to look. I think the 2014 livery looks too Mercedes for McLaren now that Merc have an own team. Merc with Petronas' green looks already less Merc.

 

And I wonder if they are going to continue with that kind of paintjob for 2015. As I said, looks too Merc. I think they need to make a difference in paintjobs between Merc and Honda eras.

I'd like to see the cars painted in two-tone or iridescent paint (like butterfly wings) - and different colours in different sections so the colours constanly change and flow.

And then see the FIA tie itself it knots trying to work out whether it counts as different liveries.

Seems like also McLaren has unpainted wings like Williams but has painted endplates. I would've preferred Williams with navy blue endplates, even if the wings had been black otherwise.
