Simple poll. How do you find the cars from this season? Ugly or beautiful?

I know that we've not seen them all yet, but you can't expect any changes.

I just want to see the percentages, to make everything clear and hopefully the FIA/FOM/FOTA/teams will take notice.

They are all ugly to a greater or lesser extent.

That being said, I am glad that the teams have gone for different interpretations and is looking forward to see what will and what won't work.

Why only two options? Why should I think only in black/white categories?    I think they are OK. We see simply different solutions in this year cars.

I dont care how they look. They should be quick. Thats it.

Pretty damn sure this year's F1 season will be super felt in the ratings. Slow & ugly cars, tires might still be failing, you just can't go any worse than this!

Well they aren't beautiful but when are F1 cars actually beautiful? Been years since they were. The best thing about them is that they all look different, which is a great thing for F1.

Aesthetically, not great but I am enjoying the different concepts/philosophies of the cars we've seen so far. It's certainly much more interesting then last year. I think the McLaren is very attractive in profile especially with the minimalist livery. The tub of the MP4/29 seems lower (like the MP4/27) compared to the other cars and hence it looks like a low-slung, ground hugging, cruise missle.

FIA have had a mare, but i think they will sort this out soon enough. Like the step noses which were almost gone in 2013.

Not ugly, not beautiful. I have not really liked the look of the cars for a long time, but aesthetics mean nothing to the teams they are looking for the small fractions of speed gains and do not give one iota of what our opinions on the form is. The FIA and FOM appear to play little heed to what fans around the world think, as long as we tune in and show up.

So I would go with indifferent as an acceptance of this being one of the least important parts of my F1 interest.

Not exactly the fairest poll is it. It's like asking if all the women in your life are a) beautiful or b) ugly.

So far I think the McLaren is a brilliant looking car. The Lotus is the only one I'd consider ugly and the Ferrari is neutral to my eyes.

Truly useless poll. OP obviously thinks we're all dunces who will say ugly if we don't find them beautiful.. facepalm.gif

I'm positively surprised!

So far they're all lot nicer and far more adventurous than what we've seen the last few years.

I'm in the middle. I don't think they are as ugly as the step noses in 2012. But I don't think they are great. It's nice to see these cars though, especially the Lotus because it's doing something new.

Personally, F1 has not had very good looking cars since 2008.

If you are not familiar with F1 they are probably ugly or at the very least mediocre.

But looking at the wider horizon, the effort of each team to optimise aerodynamics and tight packing of internal components, the ammount of data and simulation being processed, choosing between different viable concepts (best visible by different noses) and ultimately having an image before your eyes, an image of the car taking corners at insane speeds on the actual racing track... they are spectacular, futuristic and breath-taking.

I've decided to vote "BEAUTIFUL" simply to spite the OP and their transparently agenda driven poll.

And honestly, I'm going to enjoy collecting some of this year's cars in 1/43 diecast.

The liveries are great, McLaren's minimalistic silver, Ferrari's red and black complementing the black and gold of Pirelli, Lotus' livery looks good too and I suspect RB and Mercedes will follow through with that too. The sound? Not as bad as it could be but still quite..."puny", as it was put by another member, compared to the V10s, there's just no scream.

And the noses? Sweet Jesus, they ruin the liveries, poor stuff.

They aren't beautiful but they look better than high and stepped noses from 2012/2013.

I was worried because I tought we would end up having a full grid of penis noses. But it seems there's a diversity here.

perhaps they should change the regulations for the entire front section to also hit the same flat floor as the rear section,

it would be a drastic change, no more "tunnels" under the noose/driver, and it would probably fix the ugly noose

Or we could go the F1 route, 60 years of richest team wins until that team suddenly isn't Ferrari or McLaren anymore, so we keep changing the regulations to snuff out dominance and excellence and ensure an already wary fanbase has new reasons to lose interest every year by making the cars look and sound uglier and uglier every single season as they drive around parking lots and sand boxes. Because that's working pretty well.

I am an old and inconsistent man. I have seen a lot of wired racing cars so, this new generation is just like a fresh air in my mind. I vote "I like it", nevertheless I am still thinking on the old Apollon Williams. Sorry about that.

It's not agenda. It's simple. If you see a girl with a certain nose, you either think it's beautiful on her or not. It's the same with F1 this season. They all have large noses and this is what we mostly see as it's on the front of the car. You think they're beautiful and I'm OK with it. In fact, I think most of the undecided people go for beautiful because they compare them with the 2012 cars.

So much negativity here, but that's often the case on the internet.

I think it's fantastic to see some true variety in the designs, and I hope many teams will score victories, and I hope all of them will score points. With reliability back in the game, it should definitely be a possibility.

I can't wait to see the other cars, and I hope they vary even more from what we've seen.

Ugly is just a matter of taste

That's a puzzling statement, to say the least!

So far we've seen a wild variety of noses, just to point at the most obvious feature.

And the only thing they have in common is that they're different from whatever we've seen before....

Yeah I don't hate F1. I guess you either have to love something unconditionally or ignore it exists entirely. No wonder I can't find a girlfriend.

Amazed that anyone can see beauty in what has been unveiled so far. Eye of the beholder and all that but come on, they look awful.

In reply to the last post, I'm sure most people can make up their own minds.

Am I the only one who does not give a damn about the nose shape and sidepod size of the cars at all? I only follow launch day only for the liveries. That being said, I do admit that it's cool we have some visible variety and innovation.

These cars are dreadful.

For this season there should be an agreement that no front on pictures of any F1 cars are to be taken, just profile and rear 3/4 angle shots only.  Except for the Lotus, that car should be chrushed.

I think the cars look beautiful apart from the noses, although the mclaren's looks ok. And seeing as the nose is only a small piece of the car and will be probably subject to change, it seems unfair to call them ugly for that one part I feel.

And we've yet to see all the cars anyway...
