Sauber will show the C33, the 2014 challenger, to the world today. The car will be driven by Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez, with testdriver Giedo van de Garde.

Adrian Sutil said he had no problem fitting the seat, since his predecessor, Niko Hulkenberg, is of similar height.

It'll be interesting to see how they made the sidepods. Ferrari's 2014 challenger has very small sidepods, compared to the 2014 McLaren and Williams, and Sauber, with the same Ferrari engine, already had tiny sidepods in 2013.

The team didn't specify a launch-time clearly on the site, but in some reports I found the time 16:00 CET. Launch will be live and interviews will be put on their YouTube channel.

The car has passed the crash test, as early as December 11 last year, being the first team to do so.

Quite late for unveiling isn't it?

I'm sure the C33 will fufill its destiny to be solidly midfield.

About the nose:

"Perhaps the most visually striking element of the Sauber C33-Ferrari is the very low, snout-like nose. The front wing pylon’s attachments on the nose have been moved out as far as possible allowed by the regulations to channel as much air as possible under the car."

Does this mean it is the same nose as the McLaren, or do I understand this wrong?

That description certainly fits the McLaren.

By the look of the cover shape I would say it has the same nose as the McLaren but more a drop like the ferrari on the front.

I hope that's not their crash test dummy, because that artist's mannequin is about 13 inches tall.

artists%2Bmannequin.jpg

Hopefully the car is both:

a) made to a human scale

b) crafted by people with more attention to detail than demonstrated in that picture

Maybe it's the perspective, but those sidepods looks fat.

(If the picture is real of course).

You should wait for the front view, this perspective is pretty forgiving. Should look like what Scarbs drew up a few weeks ago:

Looks like the roll structure isn't an air intake?

Played around with the URL on the Sauber site, couldn't find a front view, but there's one from the side:

People are being misled by the angle. The nose is just as bad as on the Williams/FI/McLaren.

The car don't look great from straight on or 3/4 angle, but the lower noses look fantastic from the side.

It's a very sticker-free look. One hopes they have a budget. Sutil's Medion not very prominent, nor any of vdG's McGregor . . . but may not be final livery of course.

Really don't get why people claim credit for photographs they weren't responsible for...

Still, looks pretty nice from that angle.

I love the fakery of some of these car pic angles, even the teams that made them are embarrassed.

Some interesting features. The nose looks like the McLaren's but a bit chunkier, cruder, more like Scarbs preview sketch. Interesting treatment round the air intake/roll hoop area. Another team with twin RW supports.

Hope it's not just the angle, but I'm cautiously optimistic about this being the one decent looking nose so far. Nice car.

Of course, watch it being wildly outpaced by the Frankenstein creations of the other teams now.

I like how several teams (Force India, Sauber) have avoided showing a front-end view. I think it should give you a hint that this area isn't particularly pretty then.:D

You might change your mind once you get a full frontal angle. Looking at the nose closely, I suspect it'll be similar (but cruder) to the McLaren nose solution.

Same engine and gearbox as Ferrari, including the mounts for those two RW pillars.

So we can conclude that the Ferrari powertrain is the most compact?

We haven't seen a Renault-powered car yet. Scarbs is saying he heard rumours that Red Bull is doing something unusual with the gearbox.

Higher-res shot from Sauber's facebook page. They really don't want any other angle of that proboscis just yet, it seems. Looks exactly like the McLaren idea but with a more angular construction. Actually really doesn't look that bad from this angle... The angles fit aesthetically with the airbox intake, which is interesting of itself. Suspension looks like it'll be be fairly horizontal but not as much as the McLaren. I'm not sure but the cooling intakes look comparatively small - much like the Ferrari. Does that power-train have some clever trick?

It's hard to judge from this angle of the photo but I'm not sure if the sidepods are quite as slim as the ones on the F14 T. Maybe something in between, but yeah, might have something to do with the Ferrari engine's packaging and cooling solutions.
