So 2014 will see at least 13 different nationalities drive on the grid, up from 10 in 2013.

Just for a cross section it was:

2009: 10

2004: 13

1999: 10

1994: 14

1984: 15

1974: 19 - The record.

1964: 17

1954: 10

The nationalities are, of course: GER (4), GBR (3), FRA (3), FIN (2), MEX (2), AUS (1), BRA (1), DEN (1), ESP (1), JAP (1), RUS (1), SWE (1), VEN (1)

Oh my, I was wrong, 2005 had 14.  :drunk:

Might be interesting to plot it by size of field.

For example 1974 had 19, but there were something like 62 drivers competing that season.

13 from 22 this year puts it right up there.

If vd Garde replaces Guitierrez or Sutil, at Sauber, the amount becomes 14. Not that unlikely.

Then Buemi could replace Vettel for that same race, Marciello replaces Chilton (cause Ferrari wants it), Vandoorne replaces Button. Then only Raikkonen has to be replaced by Kubica, Vergne to be replaced by Coletti (cause Vergne is being outraced by Kvyat of course), and Grosjean by Alexander Rossi, which makes little sense, but there; we have our record. 20 nationalities.

German has the most drivers in the fiel (4)

Has anybody the list of all record nations every season? What nation had the most drivers in 1950, what in 1951 and so on?

1950 to 1960 it must have been Americans due to the inclusion of the Indy 500 in the WDC.

Great to see more Nordic drivers and not just Finns. Something to discuss with my Swedish and Danish friends instead of football or icehockey...

Hope they do well!
