I think there is little material in English about him, you find more in the Brazilian media, but this video has some good bits about the good parts and the bad ones too. Almost impossible to see this type of crudeness in F1 nowadays:

Great video!

Wished that todays drivers could/would speak their minds like in the 80's.

De Cesaris staying in his car even though the marshall was tugging at him trying to put out the fire... what a plonker! Not only was he risking his life, but also the marshall's.

Nelson Piquet in my opinion is one of the most under-rated champions. Perhaps on top of such list.

Exactly my opinion! And it would be not bad to see such "documentaries", made with a rather negative point of view and titled "sh*t XY says", about other champions, too... I have a couple of people, especially from NP Sr's time, in mind ...

Every person has his own style and I don't mind Nelson's.

Besides, he is right more often than not - e.g. it's true that Senna was as much a product of a good PR (he was brilliant in creating his own myth) as much as anything else.

Piquet's overtake on Senna in Hungary 1986 really made my year back then and I still rank it among the best pieces of driving I've ever seen. After the 1987 accident at Imola, Piquest lost the edge, yet producet an unbelievably solid season in 1990, beating everyone but Prost and Senna, both in vastly superior cars.

He is a true great overshadoved by an unfounded and unnecessary Senna myth. Piquet may appear more rude in his words but he was a fair driver while Senna was just a dirty bastard...although a quick one.

Good stuff but better suited for the Nostalgia forum, folks. Racing Comments is really for present day stuff.

(Incidentally, the subforums have their own rules/etiquette in case anyone wonders why we close threads here instead of moving them.)
