Hi,

 

As I begin the restoration on my Cooper F3 car, I was wondering if anybody can shed some light on what the color of the MAE was when it left the Cosworth factory?

The ones I've seen were red possibly maroon, not bright red.

It might have been Hermetite engine red.

I should have an original Cosworth head and can try to match it to the RAL colour chart if you want.

Im just trying to establish the originality of car.  The engine is red with a black head.

Most Cosworth MAE's were sold in kit form for assembly by smaller outfits such as Felday Engineering or Charles Lucas so could well have been painted in their colours!
