I find interesting that the oldest driver is still only 34 and we have only 5 drivers above 30 years of age. I think the field of veteran drivers has never been quite that young before.

I am happy that there is still one driver left (Button) who was racing in F1 before I started following the sport actively

Odd sight having Hamilton as the 6th oldest driver on the grid. Still have this 'youngster' image with him for some reason.

Yeah completely agree Lights. Also why is he in such a deficit in races started vs Nico, how young was he when he made his debut?

This will be the first time in F1 history when drivers younger than me (Magnussen and Kvyat) will take part in F1 races. (And here I wait for some people to write how they're so much older than the oldest driver on the grid :p)

It's only 18 races, or the 2006 season.

Not surprising with how most people seem to have trouble moving on from 2007 when it comes to Lewis   ;)

Ha, I like how you put (FIN) after Nico Rosberg on the win list. Anyhow, interesting statistics.

Hamilton the sixth oldest and sixth most experienced driver on the grid! How time files.

Just a small quibble about the 'World Champion when they were born' sectionFor instance, Alan Jones may have won the World Championship in the year Jenson Button was born, but at the time of JB's birth in January Jody Scheckter was very much still the world champion. So really it should be Alonso and Massa = Jones, Hamilton, Rosberg & Maldonado = Lauda, and so on.

Just me being anal

The veteran lineup was thinned out quite a lot over the last seasons with Barrichello, Schumacher and Webber. That helped a LOT :p

Sutil is only 10 races away from breaking Pierluigi Martini's record of 118 races without a podium.  Get your champagne flutes out!

Say what? The ice punk is the oldest man on the grid? Seems like yesterday he made his debut in Melbourne, looked like he should've been racing tricycles at the time. Damn, I'm getting old...

Is there a race where the youngest driver was younger than Räikkönen now?

I'd have to search individual races but there have always been young drivers in the World Championship. Just looking at the "active drivers" tab on Forix for each year, we can see Stirling Moss was 22 in 1951, and Peter Collins was 20 in 1952. Bruce McLaren was 21 in 1958, Ricardo Rodriguez was 19 in 1961 and Chris Amon was 20 in 1963.

It's not that the drivers are getting that much younger, it's that the pundits are getting older.

TBH this is his most likely year to change that given the potential field shifts.

Sutil, most races without a win and fewer points than Kobayashi.

Define: mediocrity.
