No, but he won the 2011 British F3 championship and was 123 points ahead of his then team mate Kevin Magnussen when they both drove for Carlin.

Which is why no one is moaning as he is judged to be a future prospect.

Look at his whole CV, its a good one and he was very unlucky not to win a race in GP2, his speed isn't in doubt for me. A handful of things (being crashed into, his own mistake, mechanical issues and others using the now banned prime-prime strategy) cost him heaps of points, he was closer to the title than it looks on paper. There are driver with far worse records who had a chance and did a good job in F1, of course his money helps but that's motorsport.

OK, so moaning about Ericsson (who was also an F3 champion) is OK but Nasr is "a prospect" who was just unlucky ?
I can give you half a dozen GP2 drivers who were unlucky.

Nasr is just another driver bringing finance - but I think that is OK. Anybody who manages to put a package together deserves respect.
And this happens all the way up the ladder; look at Perez to McLaren in 2012.

No, it means that the "pinnacle" of motorsport can't pay for the best talent.

I wonder if it's "just for fun" or if anyone over there have any belief that she could actually race in F1 or be a real reserve driver!?

No, because Bernie stole all the funds. I have always wondered how he paid Max to sign the 100-year deal; or else it is all too clear.

Where did any one say moaning about Ericsson was OK?

As far as I can see the only moaning about these drivers is coming from you. What is your problem with them?

Susie were not taking away race track time from racing drivers.

She is now. Or maybe from Nasr....

The quality of the Japanese F3 field wasn't great to put it politely, not a huge achievement. Same goes for his Formula BMW UK title, he had 4 years in GP2 and didn't get even remotely close to the championship. The guys Nasr beat to both his Formula BMW and F3 titles were of a much higher quality.

Ericsson isn't a terrible driver and far worse have made it to F1 but he's not at the level of Felipe, or several others who aren't in the F1 fold IMHO.

Yeah, it has gone further than I expected, I admit.

I'm not too delighted with the fact. Giving FPS drives to different test drivers left, right and centre is not a sign that the team was able to secure everything they needed without some desperate moves like these.

If she has a chance of being in the car in 2015 or if the team genuinely believe there is a benefit to her being in the car then fine. I suspect they would say both. I haven't followed her career so can't say whether she is quick or not but a quick look at her stats hardly make for impressive reading. I know stats cannot really be relied upon though.

What if Williams are fighting for the championship? Will Massa or Bottas still have to give up their seats?  Surely that would be madness!

She makes Taki Inoue look talented. Nasr would be on a different planet...

Someone in another thread mentioned that Williams has bought over the shares from Wolff. Does anyone know more details? Could it be just a part of terms and conditions of sale?

Just when you think that things may be looking somewhat up, oh well. Worse still, those drives will comes off of the other 3 drivers. Given testing is so limited, does it make sense to not let their regular drivers run for that matter. Susie? I wonder sometimes, that may be there's data to back this move and it is not entirely boneheaded. Then i question myself as to why Mr. Wolff doesn't hire her for Mercedes. Then we go rick-rolling again. Seriously, if someone at Williams is reading this, didn't you chaps have to sort problems during testing? The braking is also new and most are still getting used to it! Let the guys get comfortable with the car. Susie can have her fun may be on a media day or something innocuous which doesn't affect much, that is, if she must.

Maybe Susie isn't actually as bad as some like to make out, and Williams genuinely see some use for her in the role?

I know, madness! /sarcasm

From Williams release on the subject (link), Pat Symonds is quoted as saying that she has a natural talent for developing the car and providing strong feedback.  With her role being mainly simulator based (link) presumably Williams feel there will be at least some advantage for her in driving the actual car to get a reference point when working in the sim.

Ericsson won FBMW UK in his first season in cars, and won the Japanese F3 championship 2009; he also raced F3 part time in the UK as a guest driver (for Triple-R, IIRC) that year, beating among others Ricciardo. He finished 3rd at Macau, and was good enough to be invited to test the Brawn F1 car at the end of 2009.

His GP2 seasons did not work to plan (with both Fortec and iSport going downhill at the time) but to say that he is a lesser prospect than somebody like Nasr is ridiculous.

I disagree. Nasr is 2 years younger and already beat Ericsson in GP2 despite less experience in this series. Both have somewhat simillar record in Formula BMW and Formula 3, but I find Nasr achievements done with slightly more style and against a bit harder opposition. It's hard to find anything which would suggest Ericsson is a better prospect from these two.

Thanks.

If Williams are in a fight for the Championship, which they could be for all we know, I'd be amazed if this actually happened.

FBMW-Euro >>> FBMW-UK (And Nasr still won in a more impressive way)

F3-UK >>> F3-JP(And Nasr still won in a more impressive way)

2nd in Macau > 4th in Macau

4th in his 2nd year of GP2 >>>>>>>>>>> 6th in his 4th year of GP2

Yeah, it is so ridiculous to believe Nasr is a better prospect.

OK, so we disagree. So what ?

My point was that there has been a lot of moaning about Ericsson being a "pay driver" whereas others apparently are not. Do not see the logic as you surely do not think that Williams take Nasr out of the goodness of their hearts ? 3rd drivers also pay, and when they no longer can - adios. Why do you think Calado is no longer with Force India this year, to take only one example ? Or Bird ? Or Valsecchi ? Or Leimer ?

Any young driver with management that finds sufficient backing is to be congratulated, not condemned. But remember one thing: you need backing and talent, combined. One of the two does not suffice anymore, if it ever did.

What no one gets is why you came here to moan about Nasr if your problem is with people moaning in other threads about other drivers.

So he's in the car for today's FP1 session. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that Williams' tweet about it included the hashtag #bancodobrasil
