Yeah the big teams don't care. But I wonder if the smaller groups like Petty might, who do actually have to use a budget  :p

Though it's not like the schedule or tracks has been jumbled much. In past years being a 1.5mile specialist would have put you in a pretty good position.

And in past years you've had to enter into NASCAR's substance abuse recovery program thanks to the coke habit you develop trying to stay awake for an entire 1.5mile race.

I mean, this doesn't change much I guess.

Most of the people with a race win last year were at the top of the standings anyways.

But I agree with what y'all are saying

Didn't some people die in that pileup? Or was that a different one?

So the theme for Phoenix and Bristol is "the 3 car, hard in the wall, looks like he got some help!"?

Except that Dillon would have found a way through somehow.

The intimidator is back.  :rotfl:

It will be highly ironic if #3 v2.0 is bullied.

Earnhardt spun the leader out on short tracks to take the win. Dillon wrecked everyone by driving over his head.

Kind of funny how teams spend millions to find the tinest aero advantage (such as coating the decals/paint as Jr referenced post race) and then these tanks are running in the lead pack after multiple incidents, missing panels like Allegair, or the entire nose made of tape like Jr. won with at Talladega years ago.

Tape on the grill is beneficial.. for about 3 laps.

I've seen Junior race back when he and his sister were running late models and I can say this is probably the happiest I have ever seen him. Maybe his first Cup win (probably the happiest I've seen Senior) was it but last night after the race and hearing his interviews today, he's like a different person. I don't think any of us really understand the burden of pressure he had on himself but it is obvious now that he's relieved of it. His happiness makes me happy for him. It's infectious and that kind of emotion is such a welcome escape from the usual sponsor-cliched interviews we've all grown accustomed to.

The other thought from all of this is how the heck was "@DaleJr" still available on Twitter for all these years?  He must have bought it off a guy.

I bet twitter probably tells anyone with the same handle to buzz off when a celebrity wants that name.

I thought it was one of the better d500s once they got it rolling. The plate set up NASCAR is running this year is pretty damn good. Everyone had a shot, Ford, Chevy, Toyotas were are in the mix. No doubt JJ and Gordon gave it up to joonya for the last 25, but they will get a w this year somewhere or another and be in the mix. TBH, I thought Ford would own this race, The usual suspects did the usual crap, so there were no surprises there. Look to see an awesome Talladega race this year, because with the new plate set up, you have to be up front, the whole race, or the also rans will take you out.

great start to the season, and the next 12 weeks will shake it out.

From what I know they cannot (or will not) force someone to surrender a Twitter handle, and sometimes celebs will buy handles from regular plebs with the same name.

It's funny to me how NASCAR can't seem to find consistency between the series at plate races lately. When Trucks and NW are good, Sprint Cup is bad. Now, NASCAR has apparently figured out the package for Sprint Cup, but the Trucks and NW are back to square one.

That was the best Sprint Cup racing I've seen at Daytona since the repave killed the bumps in 2010.

Hear hear!!

Amazing racing. Guys were slicing and dicing. Making moves with skill and bravery. It was terrifying to watch but you could not look away. That's what America wants.

Agree. ^

Anyone notice how unfortunate fox's editing was at the end?

It was an awesome moment; however, fox kept switching from Junyah screaming to 99 doing a kickflip.... Then back to JR screamin'...

Oh hey Dilla,
I thought the truck race was better than most races there for them in a while.

Maybe its just because I love the new truck models.

So the #88 car has to stay at Daytona all year? DEJ has just lost his best ride. So no more victories this year for him then. LOL

I'm fairly sure that the winning car at Daytona always belongs to NASCAR.

Good point.  There, fixed that for me.

While we're at it, as much as I like Sam The Eagle, I think Ross should switch his avatar to the Larry King mug shot for nostalgia sake :)

As a fan of the Muppets I've always liked Ross's avatar. It's very fitting. Sam the Eagle, much like Ross himself, doesn't use a thousand words when a couple will do, and seems to be happy just often enough no one will get too concerned and keep asking if everything's alright.

If you are wondering where Red17 went, well... Red17 still has a job so he decided to sleep in hope that the race would be postponed to Monday.

So, after getting up to date with the relevant moments of the race (I actually read the posts first) I hereby award June Bug the first Chase Grill Sardine Spot. Er... yes, I am unilatearally opening the inaugural Sardine Spot Race since it cats and other creatures like sardine and fits well with the knockout and the giant fork.

Im still trying to figure a way to paste that MW into a somewhat workable grill photoshop with all 16 sardines ready to be grilled, anyone more talented is free to try.

Here's your award Dale:

Excellent, I will look forward to it at the weekend (also these threads are brilliant and pretty much the only reason I watched the last race - oh and the fact it was being shown on a channel I could get but I probably wouldn't have bothered if not for reading about it here first so thanks!!) :)

I can take it if no one else wants to, but between college enrollment essays and actual books I'm trying to write I'd rather someone else had a crack at it.

There is Sprint Cup and Nationwide (both of the actual car series in NASCAR) this weekend, but no Truck series for a while. Schedule for March:

Sprint Cup:

March 2 (Phoenix)

March 9 (Las Vegas)

March 16 (Bristol)

March 23 (Fontana)

March 30 (Martinsville)

Nationwide:

March 1 (Phoenix)

March 8 (Las Vegas)

March 15 (Bristol)

March 22 (Fontana)

Trucks don't race again until March 29th at Martinsville. Truck schedule is dumb, 78 days beteween the first race and the third. It would be cool if you can join us for all the races of course, but if you can only pick one or two, Bristol is the can't-miss race out of that bunch. Phoenix and Martinsville are always good too, Las Vegas and Fontana it likely wouldn't kill you to miss if you had to.
