Remember these guys? https://www.facebook...s/photos_stream

It is more than a little fishy stuff going on with these guys. But i find it hard to believe...its just such an well executed con if so.

Sure their rods who are hollowed out makes you wonder..  And no video worth a damn is shown as well as pictures from assemby. No dyno runs worth much either.. and no homepage working.. actually it kinda sounds like a scam does it not?

But damn thats a great con if you go my the pictures. What do you think?

Drag kit for high boost applications. Billet 15.8:1 CR pistons and heavy duty billet aluminium rods. 90 psi tested on methanol.

Doesn't smell fishy - more like pure, fresh BS to me.

Well, a basic web search of Extreme Tuners and its apparent proprietor, Spyros Panopolis, doesn't seem to turn up anything about them except their own claims. These entities don't seem to exist in the world of vehicle performance except in their own publicity campaign.

The assortment of photos is rather curious, and there are some obvious Internet sock puppets involved, but before we even go there, we can ask simple questions: Who is this guy? Nobody, that we know of. What has this outfit actually accomplished out in public? Nothing, apparently. Who buys and runs his parts? Nobody of any consequence or accomplishments. It's a big zero, a castle in the air.

What kind of compression is possible to run with Methanol?

I have no clue about methanol. If they said something about petrol engines i might but they allways talk about methanol.

I never really looked into them as i find this kind of con to be a new style of doing it. Normally its a press release with a render or at best something that looks like it might run. As well as some bogus claims (wich i found and is in first post)

here they got turbo parts CNC made, engraved and tons of engine part all over the place. Its a lot of money even in close to stock form. Its a lot of work going on into this and he even has a car with some of the visible fancy pancy parts into it that seems to run. But no videos that is worth a damn. It is as if they are trying to become a actual tuning firm or something.

15.8-1 and NINETY pound of boost! You may get away with 15.8-1 on a methanol engine, that with no boost!

I have seen these mobs come and go over the decades, huge claims with no results. These days a cnc program to 'autograph' the parts. Which are probably made in China and full of flaws.

It seems the cranks are Crower by glimpsing the forums.

There is a VERY shonky supplier here in Oz, cheap parts. Some were ok for the money but it seems nothing now is any good. It seems to be legitimised by sponsoring a top wild bunch car. I bet he does not use any of the sponsors parts!

Sheer techno-babble, can't be taken seriously.

Is this guy actively scamming people for money, or is he merely some Internet tosser trying to impress people?

Active scam it seems. Thanks for the info on methanol Lee. I just assumed it was all methanol engines.

Active scam it seems. Thanks for the info on methanol Lee. I just assumed it was all methanol engines. I really need to simulate those odd rods.

What I saw of the rods,,,,WTF. They are so wide above the bearing they could scarcely turn in relation to the bottom of the block yet alone the pan rail. And I suspect quite heavy too. And oh so stupid!  Look at US drag race alloy rods. Functional and still way too bulky for their lack of strength.

A drag race engine builder I know reckons alloy rods are good as they absorb some of the 'shock' This on a alcohol funny. He lifes them at 20 runs, this on low budget blown engines. The fast runners probably are half that.

On a proper race engine, road race, speedway etc noone would ever use them.

No way. The title is perfect from an SEO standpoint as is. There may be some disappointment the thread is about cars though.

Wait - this is about cars? I thought we were talking about alcohol... When I skimmed the pics, my thoughts immediately were scam, but I'm notoriously cynical of things other people are doing (everything I'm doing is cutting edge and thinking way out-of-the-box of course). For me the tell was in the pictures with a complete lack of supporting information. Wasn't that a kers-ish Mercedes F1 engine in one of those pictures? Surely the people that MB engage in their racing business are more...subtle.

Sharing the MB pictures does not mean a thing. They just liked that engine and the photos.

its easy going in and saying that now. I have shared pictures of parts and so on and no one said a thing. Is Beryllium even used in engines? I have never heard about that **** before.

BeCu is used as seats for Ti valves, for reasons I can't recall - better transfer rates or because it's non-galling. (or both) I've made a lot of BeCu parts, but never for auto. I looked at the pictures, saw a lot of stuff that didn't appear to belong to them mixed in with their own parts and thought "bullshit". You don't see Ford or Rolls Royce or Ferrari adding pics of items they have no association or tie-in with. I thought it was clearly small-time - which doesn't mean they didn't make parts, just no parts on the items they were hoping you'd associated with their parts. I'm okay if you think I'm playing Texas sharpshooter. Some people believe their money from the Nigerian prince is just days away too. Their scam, as small (associating themselves with work they have nothing to do with) or large (complete fake with nothing but vapourware and other people's money) obviously worked.

BeCu -beryllium copper. And I meant better heat transfer rates. This forum sucks to use with the BlackBerry OS.

Made a quick and dirty simulation to make it more official. But it is more than enought to convince anyone with some idea about how stuff works. https://dl.dropboxus...reme tuning.pdf

They are still going hard btw.
