What would be interesting to know is how many engines/parts of the PU the teams used to reach these...

By average it gives:

Mercs (04 teams): around 2500km
Ferraris (02 teams): around 2500km
Renaults (04 teams): around 1000km

I'm not considering Marussia to underline the fact that the Mercedes works team is the absolute leader when we look at the total amount of information available.

10000km is the equivivalent of a whole season (around 20 races if we consider 250km per race).

The other (Merc&Ferrari) teams have info on just their specific car/pu combo worth of half a season.

Renault teams have done just 04 race distances so far. That's at best what one pu has to deliver this season, as we have the limit of five power units for the whole year!

Yes but the trouble is has the Mercedes PU actually done a 5 race life span, or has any component of the PU?

The worrying thing for other teams is that even Mercedes are concerned of reliability and finishing the first race.

Surely not I would say, but still the others are looking at Merc and feeling the fact that one team is in a class of their own.

It is looking very good for Mercedes at the moment, but they may still have to find there hornets nest like Renault...

But are Mercedes concerns jusified or are they just playing the game...

@GrumpyYoungMan: Could one think that at the last test session the teams would love to target running 1000+ km with just one pu / component set to get a real feel on the reliability?

They are getting there I am sure, but we still dont know how many if any components has been changed and how many if they were changed mid season would cause a penalty.

This all could swing in the favour of Renault later in the season, if the Mercedes PU later proves unreliable - not that I am saying it will... just concerned.

After all I am sure all the red flag stoppages caused by the Mercedes PU isnt a direct mechanical failure more them learning the fail safes and how to work around the issues...

Red flags are often caused when the teams simply run out of fuel, which they will do routinely in early testing, and even moreso with these new power units and the importance of fuel economy. It's not a sign that they have had a failure.

That was kind off my point. ;) :)

Yep - total milage is incorrect. They have added the total of Ferrari from Bahrain to the total of Renault from Jerez for Ferrari.
Should be Ferrari 1000, 4975 and Renault 770, 4018

I'd just like to bump this due to the proper use of an apostrophe - my congratulations!
