Romain not happy.
Romain: "What, what, am i going to have to b!(#$l@p someone?" (Thump!)
He's one of the most soft spoken chaps on the grid... to drive him to do what he did... i can only imagine his pain and frustration. Hang in there Romain

"We are not in a nice situation but it does not mean we cannot recover. There are a thousand things I'm trying to solve on my car and with my mapping. We need to have good discussions with Renault to see how best we can work well together."

So two teams at the front have problems owing to engine problems. Edit: I should have said two less teams at the front, owing to engine problems
Thanks for the link and highlighting this bit.

Honestly if Lotus struggle to do anything this year, I can see Grosjean upping and leaving, leaving Lotus with half a staff (seeing as everyone is taking them) and one very angry pot of gold; and that's if PDVSA will even want to fund his endeavours anymore. Honestly I can see either this team being brought out by Mercedes/ someone high or leaving the grid altogether. People are too focused on RedBull to notice Lotus are more f'ed than a fish out of water. Ironically enough the only ''good'' thing they have right now is PDVSA's money and Grosjean. I gotta say, it's not looking good.

Why would Merc buy a second team?

Thing is will Newey ever give it enough cooling, and if he does how much downforce will it lose in the process?
It was a cliche that he'd sacrifice cooling and reliability for aero points, and that's exactly what he did. My bet is it will never be reliable.
I think / fear the opposite. They'll take their time to make everything work with Neweys concept, but once it does work, nobody will see which way they went. Again. And everyone else will look silly for making heavy aero compromises for the 1st generation of the new power units while Newey has already built a car for the 2nd (developed and reliable) generation.
The only question is how long it takes to get there,or rather will take long enough for another team to steal the 2014 crown.

We'll see in time, but I think Mercedes have the staff, budget and headstart to get to that stage way before Red Bull as it stands...

Have to say I'm liking Romain more and more (not in a man love way). He always had skills that he didn't always know how to use properly, but now he's getting forged by fire and his own furious determination.
Down the line, which ever top team gets him, will have a WDC on their books.
Its possibly the one good thing that can come out of this whole debacle - a future Champion that really knows about fighting with a cold fury.

I mean in the similar way that Toro-Rosso is that of sister team to RedBull. The Mercedes might benefit from it. besides, someone has to buy it if they went into liquidation.

Yeah we can tell all about him by the way he slaps a table. Furious determination.

He had earlier spoken about taking over as a lead driver for the team... surely, he knows he will have to pull up his socks than just bang on a table and say angry words to a mechanic.

I'm slowly warming up to Romain. He's fast and has learned not to make that many mistakes... now all he needs to do is win his first race, pretty sure that he will build up on that.

Seems like with Dominicali speaking about budgets, things possibly (financially speaking) are a bit on the down low at FIA Spa. Previously, one could have safely assumed that Ferrari may have looked into purchasing a team. Force India switched over to Mercedes some time back, and now STR have also gone down the Renault route. I mean, they could possibly name the team as Maserati or Alfa or some such. Couldn't hurt really. However, naming it Maserati or Alfa will bring enormous pressure for success. As said on TOp Gear by May iirc, "a Maserati faster than a Ferrari is a bit of a no-no in Italy." Oh well... Honda could buy them for another if they fancy their chances, However, this is a discussion better saved for another thread.

Romain not happy.
The way to do it properly is not to walk over to table and reach to hit it and walk back and fold your arms. No no no. You storm out, and on your way, you hit it (clenched hand) whilst mubling a bit of profanity - starting soft and building up to a crescendo. I've found it works best in german.
That's just nerd rage.

I think the expression you are looking for is "a hissy fit".

Wow he shows some passion and mental midgets get all empowered to jump.
Last time anyone saw you jokers push a F1 car to limits????????
Posted 04 March 2014 - 05:36
I can understan Romain completely. He has done his part over the last 8 months and now the team is struggling like hell. His career is at a point where he needs the results for that push for a top team so this doesnt help

It's not actually. A hissy-fit is more coherent in it's execution. For a hissy fit, I'd have respect. A person perfoming one makes no attempt to stay civilised. Romain is at boiling point, so he loses it. But his inhibitions are soon tempered by his well tought manners, so he tries to contain himself.
You should either lose it completely and own the situation, or stay calm. Half-half is for p**sies.
I've actually given this topic a lot thought.
(Before it's too late and someone drags me to the gallows, this is all very much tongue in cheek. I couldn't care less what Romain does)

Meh, he and Lotus benefited at the end of last year of continued development of their car while Mercedes and Ferrari stopped developing very early. That is why they are now months behind on their 2014 car.

I agree, but in a kind of opposite way. Romain was always compared to Kimi in every single race. Everything he did was argued with "oh well, Kimi was having a bad day so...". Romain has matured into an incredible driver and one who still doesn't get the credit he deserves. Now he could be in a bad car with a teammate who ironically is everything romain was yet he HAS a race win. If he gets beat by Pastor, god knows what that says about Kimi let alone himself but if he shatters him and gets that car home to places it always has done whilst pastor gets no where near or at least struggles then a top team is certainly going to have their eye on him. Plus with Eric at McLaren now, who knows what could happen? So yes, this year is a year for him to get results not necessarily for Lotus but for himself. This ship is sinking and he certainly does not want to be going with it. Even if Lotus disintegrated (And i must put emphasis on ''IF'', just so no one yells at me) and he can't find a place next year, the moment a spot does open, he'll be there if all goes well.

yes but again, that's not Grosjeans fault
There's a pretty much unending list of things Lotus effed up

Grosjean would leave where? After the kind of mess his teams has been recently with its financial situation (capped by its own team boss changing), he is still left at the team and got not chance at any other midfield team. There is a reason why Grosjean is with Lotus. If he leaves them, it won't be for another F1 team.

Actually Grosjean is blisteringly fast. Yes, he does make mistakes, but that's coming down of late and there's nothing that suggests that improvements won't be coming in steadily. That's not to say that there's room for him. Heck, there's no room for anyone these days. Hamilton was trying to move out of McLaren since 2011 mid or something, and he finally got to Mercedes at end of 2012. What's more, if management hadn't changed and Brawn was still in charge with Haug, even that was going to be difficult. I have never noticed moves being this difficult for a long long time. At the least as long as i've been following F1 and that is almost 2 decades. However, if you want to discuss this more, let us take it over pm/ create a new thread.
