So you don't think the Merc. boys want to beat each other for pole? They are backing off and just putting on a show? How do they decide who gets pole then?

As I said when Horner first said this, I don't think he literally meant Mercedes would lap the field twice. He was exaggerating. It was just his way of saying "Mercedes is miles ahead of the competition".Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
We've already had three races this season and the best Mercedes managed to do was to win by half a minute. Of course any predictions about winning by 2 laps were far off. In ideal world Mercedes could be winning by a bigger margin, but ideal world doesn't exist. Lapping everybody once may have been a possibility, but twice? No way.

Surely with fuel and reliability on a knife edge they'll have a deal worked out that both drivers have signed up to, that after a certain point they'll hold station. I don't in my mind see that as 'team orders' personally though.
This is what I hope anyway. I don't want any more nonsense like Germany last year.
I do.
A race can develop in stages with one driver having an advantage at different points, ie one might be able to save more fuel or their tyres, for a late push. These sort of orders will only benefit the lead driver and could kill the last stages of the race just when it's reaching an exciting climax..

The Mercedes boys received new tyres for the push after the safety car, how does that compare to the other cars?
Tyres older by about 6 laps max.

Tyres older by about 6 laps max.
And it isn't like the Merc boys were conserving their tyres after the SC, the battle they had would have been taking a lot of life out of them. Even when Rosberg took the best life out of his softer tyres his pace was still very good.
