ugh ugh, can't get a break

We heard that the engine on Lewis Hamiltons car had to be changed. There we some problems with one of the auxiliary systems #F1 Report later

Don't say if this counts against the 5 or even if he misses FP1 or if its already changed

 so everyday he's been scheduled to drive a 2014 car he's encountered some sort of issue, while Nico rolls around almost pristine, seriously bugs me, Webber was always famously "the unluckiest man in F1" (yeah okay try getting within half a second of your team mate for your bad luck to even have a detrimental effect webbo) but god damn lewlew must be a close 2nd

This tweet sparked off my fears on the fuel.

'Toro Rosso suggesting drivers may prefer not to use DRS when they get the chance, and just sit behind to save fuel in the slipstream'

Tweeted by F1 Fanatic

Surly using DRS will cause less drag and less fuel.

What will take to a 2014 track first, Merc's troublesome new nose stuck in Brackley, or the fabled Lewis Hamilton?!

If being groomed to be THE GUY for one of the most successful F1 teams ever from a young age and winning a WDC with them, and then leaving to a team on the upswing when yours is on the downswing is unlucky, I don't want to know what bad luck is.

Having Whitmarsh come in as TP in Dennis' place?

I don't think it will count as one of his five since he hasn't used it.

Engine only counts when it leaves the garage. He won't be penalized.

I may be wrong (and please correct me if I am) but don't the teams have to allocate 5 sealed PU for the year, and if any of the FIA seals are broken - they get a penalty?

I'm not sure there's a provision for the number of KM the engine runs before it's considered a used engine.

if that makes sense...

Righto guys less than an hour to go and i can telk you it is very hot at the track, warming up the tyres should not be a problem and we have just had a 10 lap v8 supercar race to clean it up, followed by some classic racing cars now then its all eyes on the new era! Atmosphere is buzzing!

Cant help but say the lack of knowledge of the spectating public is astounding!

The engines only count if they leave the garage. In this instance this engine won't count against him. If this happened on the out lap during FP1, then it would count against his engine allocation.

Thanks.  I just looked it up in the regulations - he's fine.

A power unit or any of the six components will be deemed to have been used once the car's timing transponder has shown that it has left the pit lane.

Same here, I think Hamilton, who loves to show up in FPs, will get to 1.29s

But, that will also depends on how many cars run to rubber up the track

It doesn't count as he hasn't left the pit lane.

Good to hear the weather is on the side of running, the fewer variables for the next couple of hours the better for me, hope you're having a great time of it.

The V8 supercars will have cleaned the track a little. Hopefully they utilise the extra tyres and we have a session full of running. I do expect Red Bull to bite back in FP1.

I've never seen an F1 car do that before.  Maybe they didn't have it on the stands properly?

Doesn't count until the engine hits the road in a practice session.

They could blow up 1,000 engines before FP1 and they wouldn't count.
