Any predictions, it's a tough call eh?

After successfully taking candy from a baby, I'll take a punt; 19/0 in Bianchi's favour.

Bianchi will relatively 'destroy' Chilton, win massively in qualifying possibly running the board, Chilton will not 'win' a race they both complete on merit.

Max Chilton so shouldn't have been on the grid. Enough proof is enough.

Anyone want to eat their words yet?

Nope.

Really?  Then where does that leave the highly (over) rated Bianchi or the Caterham boys?

Yes I've had to eat several slices of humble pie and I feel like a dog returning to its vomit.. You really have to ask Bianchi WTF? Being humbled by Chilton is killing Bianchi's prospects. He reminds me of Alesi,, flashes of speed but sadly lacking in technical nous.

I said he shouldn't be on the grid based on 2013. Drivers have left the sport with more impressive seasons. Last year he got annihilated and he's one lucky guy for keeping his seat.

For this season, it's still early and I still don't expect Chilton to beat anyone. You coming up here with these questions after he finally outqualifies Bianchi doesn't really change that.

I think I did already in Australia.

When Chilton is in a red Bull/Mercedes and trails behind his team-mate, then you can say that he's not up to it, until then you can only compare him to Bianchi. Most of what I read in this thread is animus, and not germane.

Nice for Chilton but Bianchi has been the one trouble the cars in front of Marussia (Sauber) all weekend and he made a mistake on his final run, otherwise he would have been ahead of Chilton and troubling Sutil.

But i guess thats it though. Bianchi is fast but erratic, Chilton is slow (relative) and consistent. Bianchi has missed a lot of opportunities this season, he always seems to be erratic and I would have thought he'd sort that out by now.

Ah! I get it now. Bianchi would have been faster if he had been faster. Well, that also applies to me; had I been faster than Hamilton, I would have been on pole position.

Bianchi seems a bit over eager this season so far. He needs to learn to stay within the limits.

Ever since he entered F1 I have been really impressed with Chilton's attitude, it really is great. Having said that, Bianchi is still the faster driver and will comfortably beat Max over the course of the season barring bad luck.

Softee softee catchee monkey. Bianchi started with a bang and doesn't seem to have improved much, whereas Chilton started slowly and continues to improve.

Anyone know why Chilton made an extra pit-stop?

Apparently it was because he got stuck behind Kobayashi so they tried to leapfrog him.

Bianchi was racing with a Lotus on merit and lapped Chilton twice. Talk about dominating your teammate.

Jules looks super motivated this year (sometimes a little too much), I think he's (understandably) desperate to get a move up the grid. That was a great performance and result in Monaco. I think he has serious talent but needs a better car and teammate to show more of it. Bottas has Massa and a competitive Williams, Ricciardo has Vettel and a Red Bull, Bianchi has (with all respect) Chilton and a Marussia.

Bianchi has Chilton and Marussia and still managed to be outperformed a couple of times this year. I think both Malaysia and Bahrain were races were Chilton did a better job.

Bianchi is probably one of the best of the other F1. I guess he deserves a better seat to see where he really is. A Sauber, Lotus or similar...his race in Monaco was excellent, but still way too many uncertainities around someone driving such a car (Marussia).

I'm not exactly sure where I'd place him if I had to rank all the drivers, but one thing is for sure the Ferrari Academy doesn't back up chumps.

Every driver makes an occasional mistake. The thing about having Chilton as teammate is that it makes it impossible for Bianchi to get credit. If he beats or even destroys Chilton, people say it's because Chilton is so terrible. If Chilton beats Bianchi or is close, people will not say Chilton drove well or has improved etc, they will just say Bianchi must be not that good. No win situation.

For me it was already clear last year after the first gp. Bianchi is really good.

I think Bianchi is probably going to move on next season. I think Ferrari will try to place him at Sauber* and prepare him to replace Kimi or Fernando if and when required.

*I think Sauber will score more than 2 points this year and will be a better long term proposition than Marussia.

Agreed. Jules was losing some of the momentum built up over last season. These points came at a brilliant time.

If Ferrari want to place Bianchi at Sauber they'll also need to provide a big cash injection to keep the team afloat.

Good qualifying from Chilton today again - although to be fair to Bianchi (and I'm not knocking Chilton, I think he's better than a lot of people give him credit for) he missed pretty much all of Friday (mainly his own fault due to hitting the wall though) so he was always going to be on the back foot in qualifying. I think both drivers have done well this year and are showing signs of improvement in their 2nd season and this will help Marussia too - can't have been easy with both drivers being rookies last year, a lot of learning all round.

I have been impressed by the Marussia's this weekend, they are crawling closer to the lower midfield teams like Sauber and Lotus.

Awkward.  :p

Well Chilton has finally made an error worthy of his preceding reputation. It would easy to cry "pay driver" but he's still earning his place in the team (mostly by keeping them solvent).

Max got a three place grid drop for causing the accident.

What I found interesting was that according to SKY one of the Marussia team bosses either John Booth or Graham Lowden, was incredibly angry that his two drivers took each other off and was investigating why it happened.

I understand why he was angry but not the need for the investigation. Max was at fault. It was clear cut even before the stewards announced the investigation or gave him a penalty.

...maybe they were thinking that Chilton's massive slide was caused by a car fault (brakes, electronics etc)...? I mean, surely they can't pin this one on Bianchi, so the only thing left to investigate is the telemetry on Chilton's car.

Disappointing to see Chilton blaming Bianchi for the incident, looked to be clearly his fault

Chilton blaming Bianchi smacks of getting his retaliation first. Chilton lost control when he took too much kerb entering the corner and over steered into his team mate. From the moment Bianchi scored the teams first points Chilton was always going to be under pressure.

According to Chilton he braked as late as possible but Bianchi went round the outside and then braked even later which left Max with no space for his car, if you look at the rear view, Chilton's oversteering car is perhaps reacting to heavy braking in an attempt not to hit is team mate.

Do you think Chilton is fibbing? We need to see an overhead shot of this incident or the onboard from Chilton's car which I have not seen, is there any such footage? As for Chilton being under pressure as a result of Bianchi's Monaco points I would suggest that Bianchi might be reacting to the closing gap in performance between the two, Max is getting faster and here outqualified his highly rated team mate. He was surely desperate to get in front of Chilton to prove a point.

This might explain why John Booth is furious with both his drivers, not just Chilton.

The 'investigation' just sounded like a bit of media overhype.

Maybe so. I've long had my suspicions that everything isn't equal at Marussia and that Max gets better treatment because of his father's interest in the team.

Max Chilton was absolutely right when he said it was Bianchi's fault. How dare that Italo-French prat put his car in the path of Max's graceful slide through turn 3; in fact it can clearly be seen on the replays that it was a clever line by Max to get massive amounts of exit speed and jump the entire grid, leaving a clear path for another stunning underdog victory.

Let's not forget, people, that this is the driver who was destroying Hamilton and Vettel after Australia. There they were, languishing at the bottom of the points table, while he was solidly mid-table in one of the slowest cars! The team should be keeping Bianchi out of his way, it's clear he's the best racing driver to have ever graced this planet. Move over Lewis Hamilton, we have a new Driving God

Chilton also stated there was no footage from before his slide. They seem to toss it out in turn 2 and 3 as well.
