come on, this is red bull we are talking about. Would it surprise you if they did (their motto is by any means necessary )

I thought it was another team that was caught in breach of regulations last year... those cars were certainly not blue.

Hello all,

Long time lurker here first time post.
What a lovely awesome race. I am still trying to adapt to the softness of the cars, though on the plus side, it is lovely to heard the tyres screech. I heard it twice at the race while watching it on telly.

An awesome job from the young'uns. Maggie boy (Kevin) did a awesome job to finish 3rd as did Ricci to finish 2nd. Team mercedes is in a league of its own, though i must say it was a bit of a schoker for them to have reliability issues in the race and not in testing.

Sad that Redbull had an issue with the fuel flow and so Ricci got disqualified a bit gutted for him, though Red bull has a bit of a history of such matters. They really do need to pull up thier socks this year. over all though the RBR is a competitive car if they can work out the gremlins.

This is going to be a cracker of a season.
Kimi seemed a bit lost, but it was reported that the ferrari were nursing some gremlins as well.
WOW for the williams this is nice for them, shitty for massa though bad luck. will his luck ever change? Massa and Lewis need to dip in the ganges seven times to rid themselves of bad luck or something.

Clare looked mighty peeved when Valteri smashed his wheel...  I want to see what happens two weeks hence, I think driving on a street circuit with boundary walls with the new systems was always going to be a bit problematic

Claire williams looked quite anxious all race. She knows that williams have a winner this year, and the drivers seem a bit iffy. not a bad recovery drive from bottas though. He could have been on the podium yesterday.

The post race presser had a bit of an odd ending.

Anyone able to shed some light?

Q: (Ralf Bach - R&B) Kevin, one question: I think Mercedes is a very good engine. Would you like to stay with it next year?

NR: Careful. He's really dangerous so best to say no comment.

KM: No comment.

NR: When he asks a question, no comment.

This board really is 90% idiots. People complaining this race was boring are brain dead, it just baffles me what people want. I agree the noise is rough but how good is it to see real differences in the cars, the RB and Williams accelerate so much faster than the Ferrari and the Fi it's incredible, there's SO MUCH TORQUE that the drivers are having to be extremely careful.

My other pet peeve is seemingly 90% of the forum bitching the SC is out too long yet the vast majority want the lapped cars out of the way during SC periods, I effing told you it was a stupid rule and very few agreed.

F1 is go, go, go.

I have followed F1 ever since 1986, although it is a regret that it took me until 2004, at Silverstone, to see my first race live and am now left wondering as to how to take my interest in the sport that one step further.

The challenge of man and machine against fellow competitors, together with ever changing regulations and technologies, in the quest for victory, is one that has enthralled and excited the many fans of F1, ever since the inception of the World Championship in 1950.

The 2014 version of F1 has the power and more to not only build on this success but also the potential to provide many more happy memories for years to come, as the race from the red light to the chequered flag continues apace.

The first Grand Prix of the year is one that, as always, provides much anticipation and optimism as to what may lie ahead and whilst the true competitive order may still be in a little doubt, as tracks ebb and flow to certain cars, what was witnessed really did provide many things that can be looked forward to.

The initial spoils, richly earned by Mercedes, provide a benchmark for them to set the pace with and the rest of the grid to catch up to. Whilst that's not necessarily how it will ultimately pan out as things develop, it does mean that they need to remain on top of their game.

The chasing pack of Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull can all take comfort from the fact that they look to have a basic competitive package underneath them. Provided that any teething troubles can be ironed out and a problem free weekend put together, there is little doubt that tables can be turned and they can be the ones heading the field.

The likes of Force India, Toro Rosso and Williams all look capable of punching above their weight and upsetting one or two of the big boys. The question and challenge for them, is to how they can both maintain and improve on that status.

The teams that looked like they may initially struggle, namely Caterham, Marussia, Sauber and Lotus, have the chance to go back to the factory in a bid to turn things around. At such an early stage of the campaign, it's not time to hit the panic stations just yet.

I hope for a great season of F1, on and off the track.

F1 is go, go, go.

I guess the journalist was trying to get Kevin Magnussen to embarrass himself in front of his soon-to-be-bosses at Honda. Sort of leading question.

I found it rare that a driver would call out a journo so blatantly like that though.. it's unusual to do it so openly and dramatically.

It might be that Nico is having a bit of a laugh at a journo he knows well?

I'm glad he did, and I hope it happens more often. KM could have easily been caught out and said something that could haunt him for a long time. Kudos to NR for stepping in.
