Did Perez even turn up today?

Magnussen takes his old seat and does what Checo could not do in a whole season.

My bet is Hulk will move up the grid to a new team in 2015, and Perez will be the new Sutil (but with 3 more podiums).

Never heard such nonsense.

So why just compare him with Perez in a flawed 2013 McLaren? By your own reckoning, Magnussen should be sacked because he did worse than Hamilton in the 'same' car in 2012...

I am starting to believe Hulk is going to win this battle hands down. I also started to - sort of - cheer for Hulk recently, if there werent Kimi or Valtteri, Hulk would be my favourite, he sure has some serious talent.

Yup Hulk is putting in some impressive performances including FP1 today. I can see him on the podium pretty soon, maybe as early as coming Sunday.

Starting to? I feel it's the safest bet ever. Hulkenberg is showing signs of belonging to the Alonso-Vettel-Lewis-Kimi leagues. Like I said, I don't expect the difference to be always like it was in Australia, but Hulk coming on top pretty comfortably is my expected outcome.

It's still early days but I wonder if perhaps Hulkenberg is even more able to display his talents with these new cars?

Well, Hulk has been my No.1 driver to cheer for, for a couple of years (he is now even racing with the same number I did, so it all seems to fit), and although I think he will beat Perez, I think it's worth bearing in mind that Perez has had some significant issues so far. I'm sure throughout the year it will get closer than its been so far. If not, then it's even more of a traversty that he is where he is.

Can't help but wonder what difference it would make to his race time if he weighed the same as Massa, and where that would have put him in the last couple of races.

So what about the rumoured weight disadvantage that was a lot talked about last year and some claimed could be an additional reason, why top teams disregard Hulk for 2014 and new regs?

Or is the weight issue and other such factors just talk, as talent always shines through anyway?

Perez quicker in FP2, and seemed to have a good day. His long run was quite strong. Let's see what Q brings tomorrow....

Force India really strong here. Weird performance by Nico. Sergio was really strong at Bahrain last year, however.

As lights says, Perez was strong here last year as well, but that was more of a blip than a sign of anything more encouraging.

Perez was nowhere in last 2 tracks but soundly beaten Hulk today in FP3 and Q

Hopefully he can put up a good fight against the other top cars

Perez is too cocky on achieving tomorrow the Podium i don't see that happening but i do hope he can make it.

Nice performance from Perez, this is what he's really capable of.

I thought the last race might have been a bit of a fluke but it seems the Force India is a pretty good car.

Nico messed up, it happens to the best of them.

Perez wins this qualifying.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early for any judgment!

Perez car was a mess in the first two races, and in this qualy Nico made a big mistake... Though, Still can't see the pay driver everyone seems to see in Sergio, and still think that he got sacked at McLaren for reasons outside the race track and linked with McLaren running with a different livery in the first three races of the year...

As i said, Hulkenberg doesn't have it easy with Perez, by now he has done 4 times what Hulk hasn't done once.

Perez the winner today. Interestingly, both drivers missing out on what looked like a better drive last year (McLaren/Lotus) seeming a blessing in disguise this year.

Great job by Perez.

Martin Brundle sounded a little down that it wasn't his golden boy (whom I am a big fan of by the way) getting FI's first podium in years.

Perez loves this track and it showed again this weekend. Well done to him but it doesn't change a lot long term I suspect.

Perez had a lot of problems on the previous races, I expect him to be more like this in future races, Hulkenberg is strong, but not miles ahead of Perez like it would look like in previous races.

Poor Martin... The one that got sacked at McLaren kicked out diResta at FI and gained the first podium for the team, not the next super super super star of Formula I...

Hulkenberg was still better today IMO, although extremely marginally. He did pull up his car from 11th to 5th, but then again, if he hadn't lost out on a place during his tussle with Massa, it would have been him up there. Apart from that, he was better.

Having said that, Perez deserved it today. I'm just absolutely devastated that Hulkenberg missed out on a podium once again.

Pérez overtook Hulkenberg twice I believe, and finished ahead. How can you still say Hulkenberg was better? Pérez beat him fair and square today, managed to say ahead of Ricciardo which Hulkenberg couldn't.
