We always expect to get the answers to all our questions in the first Grand Prix, and we always end up disappointed... It was a fun race, though, wasn't it?

As per the game's rules, 'points will be awarded as per the drivers who celebrate the official podium ceremony after the race, with no subsequent protests or exclusions taken into account', so don't be surprised to see Ricciardo up there. As you would expect, Mercedes was the most popular choice. Good news for those players who backed Rosberg for the win, bad news for the ones who chose Hamilton... Nobody really expected Ricciardo to be on the podium, hence relatively low scores, with an average of 8.18 for the round.

Congratulations to KWSN - DSM and Makarias for winning the round!   They not only picked Rosberg for the win, buy also Magnussen for third place - well done!

Why did I assume it would be Rosberg, not Hamilton, who would have a DNF? :(

Costaz's game, Costaz's rules.

A number of games here are being run with results calculated based on something different than the official results, I disagree with that and had not noticed this to be the case for this one. My glory turn out to be short lived, since I will not play the games which are not based on the Championship.

Best of luck to those in the game rest of season.

Thanks, both, for your comments, I see where you are coming from (and I had Button predicted for the podium too  ).

I don't know if it's a good idea to open this to discussion, but I feel that there must be a cut off point somewhere. This is a race-by-race game, not a Championship game, so the overall points of the drivers at the end of the campaign is not really relevant. So, in my mind, it makes good sense to base the results of the 'Guess the Podium' game to the drivers actually on the podium after the race.

This is not dissimilar to terms of bookmakers. I just checked the terms in Ladbrokes, and here's what they say:

In the case of Football and other Sports, bets are settled on the official result published by the Press Association (PA), immediately after the match/event is finished. If the PA amends its decision after this period, all bets will stand on their original result.

This is of course not binding to our game, but indicative that for a game that is outside the actual championship, we need a cut off point, which will be more or less arbitrary. The rules for the game used to say 'Podium positions will be considered those celebrated in the official podium ceremony. In case of official classification is altered BEFORE the next F1 race, we will change our results accordingly. If alteration happens AFTER the next F1 race it will not have any effect in our results'. Perhaps a bit better, but still arbitrary, no?

Anyway, it wouldn't be fair to change the rules mid-way, so things stay as they are, until at least next year. I hope that this doesn't distract anyone from participating in and enjoying the game and the races.

Costaz I do not have any issues with a game being run by the rules the gameowner sets. I am on this board for the F1 and related arguments, discussions and on rare occasion even agreements. It is my personal choice to shy away from games, which does not reflect the official results, and are therefore not in a number of the games being played. To me the cutoff should always be when the results are made official, but I am not arguing this, I am merely stating that when it is not then the game is not for me.

I am not stomping my foot, I am not throwing prams out of the sandbox, I am simply adhering to how I have behaved in games for several years. You are running a fine game, it is my choice not to be beaten by someone having Ricciardo in second place when I can read in the results that Magnussen were.

I should point out if it wasn't clear that I wasn't being serious with my comment. :p  I don't really have a problem with the rules as they are, as it is hard enough to guess without having to try and predict post race penalties!
