Honestly i didn't care till after the 3/4 of the race, My friend watches F1 for about 4 seasons now was like WTF is this.... lol... He doesn't follow testing or anything like that. He was very disappointed.
Yes, all "progress in works" attempts at getting friends into F1 has now been demolished with the new regs and sound.

Just a thought. If the races are over too quickly, it may have been easier to increase the distance????

Bernie Ecclestone says it is up to F1's three engine suppliers to make the sport loud again.
"They made them quiet, now they can make them loud again," the F1 chief executive said.
I think that clearly demonstrates Bernies level of thinking, there must be some eyes rolling at the manufacturers.
However, one race promoter dismissed the Australians' suggestion that F1 has breached contract by switching to such quiet engines.
"There are no such clauses about minimum volume," said the German federation ADAC's Klaus Klotzner. "Quite the contrary, in fact."
This very much suggests that the contracts state that the volume must be kept below a certain level.

Edit: This is how I had always perceived it, the problem was that the cars were too loud and everybody was looking at ways to make them quieter. The current situation is quite a bizarre turnaround.

Indeed, the cars were never slowed to prolong the race, not sure where that idea came from but it is incorrect.
