As the contributions seem to have dried up recently, may I suggest that the 'webmaster' or whoever cleans the forum out and we start all over again.

 

I am sure that most of us are old and doddery enough not to remember much of what we have already discussed over the years, so we start again new and vibrant.

 

I'd like to kick off with:

Has anyone any photos of him during the 1908 TT or at the battle of Jutland?

I'm fascinated by the WW2 naval stuff, especially the big gun battleships, sending 2000lb shells 17 miles onto targets over the horizon was amazing stuff, but also I uncovered a lot of harrowing tales that i'd much rather forget about.
Pursuit by Ludovic Kennedy is a great book about the Bismarck / Hood battle .

Hi Tonyed, I haven't posted much over the years, but I liked your post about our time in the IOM with Barrie the white helmet crazy guy. I rememebr he had bad Diarrhea after one of our Okells nights out and he went into a chemists there and said to the young girl at the counter "Why Lass, what can you give me for the shits" just like that.

 

She replied, "take 2 tablespoons of this pink stuff", so Barrie took the top off the bottle right there in the chemists and drank the whole bottle. The look on her face was priceless.

Those were the days. we had so much fun and yet still took our racing seriously.

if you are who I think you are (are you?) then you will be pleased to know that you featured in a photograph on the Marshall Aerospace in-house Intranet, 'Who's Who' last week.

 

There has been a post (I seem to remember) on this site from 'Sappers' daughter about her Dads exploits in the 'White Helmets' and his 'backwards' lap of the Mountain Course.

 

I don't think that we will ever see the days again that we enjoyed, where a new TZ was 1550 quid with a complete spares kit tyres lasted more than one race, fuel was a pound for two gallons and beer was even cheaper.

 

I still see a goodly number of the old chargers at the Stafford Classic bike shows.
