OK guys, thanks for partaking in the opening round. After forgetting to update my guesses to take the safety car into account you can rest assured I'm not in it to win it but to be a fair (if a bit slow at posting the results) referee.

The championship will be calculated thusly:

Guesses will have points awarded in descending order based on the number of entrants. Then to spice things up (and cheer Bernie up in the absence of a satisfying normally aspirated screaming engines), medals will be awarded for the closest 3 guesses in each category for each round. Gold worth 3pts, Silver 2pts and Bronze 1pt. Each round will be decided on a cumulation of these points and whoever has most points at the end of the season will be crowned GERCOP champion 2014.

The race results:

2013 FQL: 1:27.407 (in Q3 by Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull Racing-Renault)
2013 FRL: 1:29.274 (on lap 56 by Kimi Räikkönen - Lotus-Renault)
2013 TRT: 1:30:03.225 (Kimi Räikkönen - Lotus-Renault)

2014 FQL: 1:30.775 (in Q1 by Daniel Ricciardo - Red Bull Racing-Renault)

2014 FRL: 1:32.478 (on lap 19 by Nico Rosberg - Mercedes)

2014 TRT: 1:32:58.710 (Nico Rosberg - Mercedes)

Making the GERCOP pace:

FQL: +3.368

FRL: +3.204

TRT: +125.485

Given the addition of the safety car versus last year's time the race pace over the GP distance seems pretty impressive from the 2014 cars considering the fastest lap times are quite a way off the 2013 cars in similar conditions in FP and Qual. The extra weight of the cars and the harder tyres seem to be contributing factors in lap time. The fastest lap of the whole weekend (1:29.375 by Rosberg in FP3) was still almost 2 seconds slower than last year's FQL. On a track with at least 3 heavy brake harvesting zones Albert Park should have been one of the stronger tracks for the new high output ERS setup.

FQL: So everyone thought the cars would be faster in Qual trim, no doubt influenced by the pace witnessed at Bahrain in the final test. Scheivlak shows the way in qual trim with the least ambitious but most accurate guess.

FRL: The race lap guesses were a little more accurate and Wlleiotl goes even closer to just shy of a second out.

TRT: Wlleiotl seals the race weekend with the most accurate race time change guess and never being off the podium in the medals.

Malaysia next where I hope to get time to do some organising of results spreadsheets and presentation in the forum.

What have you used as tiebreaker? I don't see any system to it.

Well spotted Makarias, you should be above kismet as you had a higher score 3rd in FQL vs kismet's 6th in TRT.

TIe breaker at the end of the season will be decided in a similar way. Most golds, most silvers, most bronzes or most highest position until a result is decided.

I was actually thinking more of the other ties in the first instance, such as mark f1 vs scheivlak etc etc...

If tied in the championship the player with best medal/result will be placed higher. Scheivlak has a gold medal, LB's best result was 6th. Bernie would prefer it this way.

Sorry mak, in terms of who was above in the initial points positions between mark f1, scheivlak wataroos and m2000 it was who guessed first. Get those guesses in quick!

If everyone feels it's fairer to do another way I'm open to suggestions. Maybe who got the closest guess in total seconds or % but I'm trying to cut down on my maths homework!

The other (easier option) is equate the points to the tied accumulated positions then take a point off the next position down.
