Do you have what it take to be the best F1 manager? If so, prove it! Just pick the best three drivers and two constructors from the price lists below and watch your team score points depending on how it performs in the real life races.

You have a budget of 100 million and can submit your team at any time, so long as it is before the start of a race weekend and not during it.

I’ll accept identical teams but the team that entered first and so on will always be ranked higher in the standings.

After every three races the price list will be updated and you must then resubmit your team and make changes as necessary.

If you do not resubmit your team, you will continue to score points based on your previous selections but may incur a penalty if your team is now over budget.

The team at the end of the season with the most points will be crowned champion!

Points Scoring System

Bonus Points

For every 1 million of your budget you have not spent, you will gain an additional bonus point so long as this amount does not exceed the total number of points your team scored in the race. If bonus points do exceed those of race points you will be awarded the same number of bonus points as race points instead.

Penalty Points

For every 1 million of the budget you exceed, you will be deducted 1 point from the total number of points that your team scored in the race. In the event that penalty points exceed those of race points you will not be awarded any points for that race and your score will be 0.

TBH I'm not delighted with the idea. With these prices, the amount of reasonable ways to build the team is very limited. And then we have a rule that you can't be a winner if someone had the idea to have the same team earlier than you.

Thanks for your teams everybody.

TBH I'm not delighted with the idea. With these prices, the amount of reasonable ways to build the team is very limited. And then we have a rule that you can't be a winner if someone had the idea to have the same team earlier than you.

I really appreciate the feedback. Would people prefer it if identical teams are allowed to tie for position or simply not allowed at all? I think the problem with the prices may be that they are based on last years finishing positions and may not necessarily reflect current performance. Would forcing teams to resubmit at various intervals throughout the season based upon an updated price list help improve things? I've purposely kept the price list simple to make for easier calculation of teams. I think that if people wanted a more complex pricing structure this could be introduced if we go for my previous suggestion. It's probably a bit late to change the prices now as teams have already been submitted but later on in the season could be a possibility.

Let me know your thoughts.

I appreciate the simplicity of the game, but with current rules, it's definetely too much of advantage to submit your entry early. I was 6th in the game, but two best combinations I could think of were already taken by other people. I could submit the same, but what's the point of participating if you know you won't win no matter what? But then, the amount of combinations that seem to be competitive enough to fight for good results is too low to allow all people to have their own one. Especially now, after testing, when we know the pecking order pretty well.

I'm not sure what is the best way to improve things. Price change is most likely not, as it doesn't solve any of the fundamental problems. Forcing teams to have some changes during a season could make sense. Or maybe we could have more sophisticated game, with teams consisting of more ingridients and maybe with points counting not as straightforward way as just giving them for finishing positions only, so you have to think more about what is going to bring you more points, as it was in BOF's manager- simillar game that was run on this board a few years ago.

It's not that easy to come up with good solutions, since it's not me who is running the game and I'm not sure what would you want the game to be like.

OK, so I will update the price list every three races and we will amend our teams then. You will now be able to score bonus points for not spending all your budget. Your position in the standings won't be affected by having identical teams. I will introduce a tie-breaker later on in the season if needs be. Let's see how we get on.

If you would like to amend your teams before the start of next race then please feel free to do so. New participants still welcome.

Best of luck, everybody.

Welcome aboard, Numero14. Your team has been added to the entry list!

I've also clarified the rules a little with regards to what happens after the price list is updated. If you decide not to resubmit your team once the price list has been updated, your team will continue to score points based on your previous selections but may incur a penalty if your team is now over budget.

I hope this all make sense.
