Which makes your initial point valid. That is, if you overcomplicate it. But this is a good moment for it to happen, with qualifying and the race starting - unlike at most other events - at the same time in Malaysia.
EDIT: Just to clarify, since I confused myself with my wording: Qualifying was scheduled to start at 16:00 local time, which was 09:00 CET. The race will also start at 16:00 local time, which is of course also 09:00 CET, and 10:00 CEST.

Tell us, man of tomorrow, what does the future hold?

From Neil deGrasse Tyson:
What would aliens say if told that Earthlings shift clocks by an hour to fool themselves into thinking there's more sunlight.

From Neil deGrasse Tyson:
If you think about it though if aliens are used to whizzing round the galaxy in space ships, they'd be very familiar with the idea of timekeeping as an artificial concept freefloating from solar cycles. Probably the sign of an advanced civilization, the same as the way we don't delegate the job of ensuring the sun will rise every morning to a god-king anymore.
