5 hours until the lights go off - provided there is no rain delay.
Thought I would make the thread since there isn't one at the moment.
Is weather still going to be a lottery for the race?

I am so ready for this!
According to the weather forecast, looks like sun showers for the race, then full-out thunderstorm afterwards. Should be exciting!

What odds are bookies giving for Alonso?
Bet365: Alonso 14/1, Kimi 22/1

I don't bet on sports. but I have no issue with sports betting. But I would never bet on F1 or NASCAR. F1 is not random enough to ever take a long shot or underdog, whilst NASCAR is too random. Now College football is a decent betters sport. A bit of randomness, but some discernable trends to read into.

Sounds like if/when the storm hits, there is no option other than to call-off the race.

It is MGP lucky day today. It is bright and shine and it might only rain after the race.
I am doing the rain dance now to jinx MGP duo and my ex-employer!

Weather forecasts in Malaysia at that time of the day are not exactly reliable.
Besides, I think Mercedes has enough pace in the wet to withstand an RBR assault.
EDIT: Don't know where you got your forecast but the Malaysian Meteorological Dept. is forecasting thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Apart from the Grand National!!!
Before I get beaten up by the PC Brigade, worth pointing out I quite actually enjoy a nice horse steak, though not as much as a chewy dog Szechuan (relevant as I believe they now make a book on Crufts, which probably has as much in common with sport as F1).
Where are the weather girls ???

Same for me. Betting on car racing is a fine way to lose your money, for every Hulkenberg or Fisichella pole or Maldonado win there's a fifty races you'd lose money on.
I don't follow other sports enough to bet on them anymore but I worked with a guy who dropped a ton of money on the Giants to win the Superb Owl before the season that year they killed the Patriots' unbeaten win streak. The site asked him before the final if he wanted to hedge and their offer was $9,000, which gives you an idea how much he put on the Giants before the season started. He turned them down and drinks were on him... for the rest of his life.

Well, the 2012 year seemed a good season for a betting man. All the odds you can get
Of course last year (in the 2nd part at least) was a sure way to make a safe and minimal earning bet, with Vettel winning it all...
But anyway, back on topic, I'll be praying for at least a dry start. I wouldn't mind that much the race being called off at 85% -90% distance or so, but I'm still hungry for F1, I still don't understand basically anything about thee new cars and the pecking order, so this is one time I hope we avoid rain. We all saw what 2009 was so...here's hoping for something different.

Oooh, we have to feel grateful for these kind of information these days. When other series and sports have gone a long way forward in providing so much information to their fans, F1 is still making breakthroughs in giving details like real-time gaps, KERS use, DRS use, top-speed, etc.. Ground-breaking! The whole FOM needs a revamp. Bunch of amateurs out of touch with the times.

#F1 fans - watch out today on TV feed for some new graphics, which will show ERS use and how fuel loads are going for individual cars.

Oh well, half an hour to go . .
Lets see if LH blunders the start . . I can see him getting overly defensive on Vettel, and Rosberg will cruise past both of them . .
To be honest, I am really really looking forward to Lights Out - can't wait!

Lewis's start 2 weeks ago was pretty good for a guy with a V5. He actually had a better reaction time off the line than RIC and ROS but got caught out due to the V5 issue.

Dry start, HAM and ROS comfortably 1-2 into turn one with VET and ALO fighting hard. HAM to control pace for opening stint before rain arrives and throws the win away.

Ecclestone introducing Hamilton to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. I am sure he must have enjoyed that. Just leave him alone. He does not need all these distractions minutes before the race.
