It was a hub centre steered racing bike devised by a friend of mine, Andy Stevenson ( I use the word 'friend' loosely - Andy was the kind of guy who was your mate only if you were useful to him in some way )

The first iteration of the ASP had twin shock rear suspension and was track tested by Alan Cathcart. I rode it with it's original highly modified EXUP engine on a runway in a straight line and it scared me half to death. Not the chassis, but the amount of power it was making and the racekit flatslide carbs which were basically on\off.

The second ASP ( a 750 ) was built for a racer called ( I think ) Stuart Jones ?  MCN always referred to him as " the Cheshire hard man " which seemed a bit weird to me. Admittedly he was a muscular guy with a shaved head, but a very nice bloke the few times I met him.

The third ASP was going to be a road bike, but only one was ever made. I designed and built the wiring loom for the horrible thing, and actually got paid for once.

Hub centre steering - in my opinion - is an answer to a question which nobody asked. If you want a bike with bugger-all steering lock then get a Norton Featherbed cafe racer like I did at the time
