Quite enjoyed my day. Made the trip up from Essex with my brother. Not been to the track since it was re-developed and I thought there were some nice spots for photos - slowly worked our way around from Vale in the morning to the exit of Club by the end.
I thought the cars were still plenty loud enough in person. Really gruff sounding on the pit limiter. Those 18 inch rims on the Lotus looked horrendous though IMO.

I thought £26 to see this years cars wasn't too bad.I paid £28 in travelling costs
Cost £30 for an on the day ticket, £25 on the train from Nottingham to Northampton, £9.40(!!) to get the slow bus from Northampton. Didn't fancy £10 for the pitwalk as the massive queue and I'd get back 3 hours earlier if I left just before the end. (and the drivers were probably not going to be there)

Are the tires inflated or just a belt of rubber slabbed on the rims?
Inflated I would imagine.
Here's a couple of photos I took of the Lotus, showing the 18 inch rims in the morning and the car running later in the day on the current spec wheels and tyres:

I live in MK so not far to go. I thought it was a bit of a rip off at £30 for such a small part of the track, but it was a dam sight cheaper than going to the GP so my 7 year old did get to see an f1 car at full pelt for real as i cant justify paying £500 for a decent race day seats. Knowing him he would get bored half way through as well and start acting up. Therefore it worked for us. The bigger rip off was the £7 burgers though, so im glad i took sarnis. Lets hope redbull do another run in mk soon though as that was fun and free.

Having seen some of the fan video from the weekend I'd say £30 is very steep to view modern F1.

I don't mind the new look on the fronts - but sadly the rears just don't look manly enough for me. Too street car, I think they should increase the overall diameter of the rear tyre and decrease if anything the wheel rim diameter to make them look even more wacky races/dragster like.

Sorry guys but the car look better with the actual rims and would look better without the Pirelli logo and the color stripes.

Uploaded a bunch of photos - sorry for the delay, but I was up at the Formula-e test yesterday... a discussion for a different thread!

...including Lewis and Nico's Mercedes being attacked by Slimer from Ghostbusters; Jules Bianchi with a fire extinguisher; JEV looking as miserable as sin; close ups of cake tins; Smiffy from Marussia demoing the steering wheel; a budding relationship with a Pirelli girl and a Williams mechanic; the blingin wheels on the Lotus; and finally a Red Bull engineer demoing 'the finger' to Seb... what more could you ask for!

it would be much more convent if you had 2x colours of rim, one for the option and one prime, sod what actual tyre it is as thats not really relevant. The tyres could then just be black

Nice shots. Were you in the grandstands or one of the press photographers?
I put some of mine into a folder on Flickr: https://www.flickr.c...57645205215348/

Great photos Dan... Most of my photos are from the public areas / grandstands. Lots of folks in the pitlane.

The low profile set up makes the cars look like an F3 car.

It would be easier to bring just a black tire for the premium and a white stripe for the option, or viceversa and (called them just soft and hard), and stop with the color festival.
Outstanding pics, Dan.

For the last two days of this year’s test calendar (Abu Dhabi, 25-26 November) Pirelli will supply all the teams with prototype tyres in preparation for the 2015 season.

Lotus has really taken a shine to Ocon. Does he bring any money? Hopefully a replacement for Maldo in a year or two.
No, just talent.

At a guess I would say Hamilton would be there, (I doubt wild horses would keep him away!) to get one last drive before the W05 gets retired for the W06...

I wonder what they'll be testing.
Posted 24 November 2014 - 23:31
I can't find many details about the test. (certainly searching on Yas Marina Circuit's website found nothing so I'm presuming its not open to the public?). I am guessing it will run from 09.00-17.00 (05.00-13.00GMT) (possibly extended if they have a compulsory lunch break like they did earlier in the year?). There appears to be no coverage from UK sites (at least they are not advertising they are covering it but maybe some info will crop up tomorrow) but hopefully the French site that covered the earlier tests will stick around for this one as well. Fingers crossed there will be a few photos of cars trialling things for next year and more video of the McLaren Honda by the time I get up in the morning.
Edit: link to French website that is covering the test: http://www.f1i.com/live-f1/
