Worked really well in that case.

Would you rather them play it conservatively?

That's if they are indeed trying something new.

Hamilton just came in on the mediums so hopefully they can get some good running in now.

Coverage from crash.net here: https://mobile.twitter.com/crash_F1
Also the french site is running as well and includes times and lap counts http://www.f1i.com/live-f1/

Still wet in Barcelona so not much running yet. A few Red Flags already caused by Toro Rosso and Ferrari.

Thanx for the links

Kimi got 14 laps done, and now sounds like that was enough for the 2nd engine. Day done.

The French site says he was stuck in the gravel trap, not that the engine blew up. Hmm

It seems Kobayashi has seen some oil where Räikkönen stopped. That could fit with both "versions" of the red flag: Räikkönen's engine broke down and lost some oil, or there was some oil on track and he ended up in the gravel.

Of course, as usual, reality might be totally different to what I wrote.

Marussia has gained three seconds since qualifying last Saturday. That's a hell of an upgrade.

Seriously WTF

That could be it indeed. Also  they ran on supersoft and if im not mistaken the guys in the back were testing 2015 tyres so that could be as well.

Well that explains the situation...althought it was earlier said Kimi used softs for that 1,26,9

SS or not, it's still a good lap time from Chilton given the low temperatures.

That time by Marussia is hilarious.

3 second improvement my ass...even with SS tyres they were running underweight.

79 laps for Lewis, not bad...  anyone knows if this whole running was dry though?

Have Mercedes actually tested the louder exhaust?

I find that highly unlikely. They might have been running an illegal setup on quali fuel.

No, this morning was wet, with full wets and intermediate tyres being used. After the lunch break they went out on dry tyres (although there was occasional spots of rain I don't think they needed to go back to the inters). They bought the lunch break forward by an hour to give more dry running in the afternoon as the forecast was for it to be better pm so they still had approx 5 hours dry running.

Tomorrow is supposed to be dry and sunny and 19º

How much time is there between mediums and supersofts? 2+ seconds? That would mean Marussia's medium time should be around 1:29. Close to what they qualified for the race.

But they are not loaded with sponsors, right? Perhaps there were some nice guests over in the hospitality zone? Eddie Jordan used to do that all the time.

Then again: it is not so strange that in testing drivers and cars are suddenly much faster in testing on the track where they raced before. In the nineties tests at the GP tracks were very common, and as I remember it, all the guys were always about a second faster than the day before.

I've always been curious how this works exactly. I'm pretty sure those sponsors are aware of the team's results in the races and can see right through a glory run and a topping of timesheets which most definitely won't translate into a similar performance at the next races.
