As I've argued above, I would prefer it if drivers were required to leave room at corner exit for any car on the outsiee line that is substantially alongside and able to stay on track. However as I have also mentioned above I am okay with Hamilton's moves at turn 4. The reason is Rosberg was not only expecting to be given room at the exit of turn 4. In order to exploit that room, , given, he would have needed to keep his foot in. That would have entailed entering turn 5 at a speed that would have precluded leaving any room for Hamilton. They were approaching a high speed chicane which is only high speed if you use all the track and then some. If you leave room for another car alongside you, both cars lose a lot of time. In those circumstances one or both cars has to back down as they can't go in there flat and both make it through. Because Hamilton was on the better line, Rosberg reached the decision point where he had to choose between lifting or crashing before Hamilton did, which is why he lifted and Hamilton got to take the optimum line. If turn 4 was followed by a long straight I would have thought forcing Rosberg off was beyond the pale, but as it is, the way I see it, Rosberg couldn't realistically keep his foot in even if Hamilton left him the space to stay on the track because he would not have been able to negotiate the fast chicane and leave room for Hamilton alongside him.

Besides that, at the entry of the corner Rosberg was on the racing line so could he have just hit the apex normally and expected Hamilton to disappear? Racing line doesn't mean anything. It's just the optimal path around a corner. If there is a car there, you can't take the optimal path. This is what racing against others is about! Negotiating a corner in a fashion you normally don't, in a fashion you haven't practiced for, in a fashion you need to think several corners ahead to plan your tactic, not in a fashion where you push your rival off and clap your hands in job well done.

This isn't rally with time trials, you can't expect other drivers to not be there!

Lewis did not push Rosebeg. Omg. This isn't driving miss Daisy or making a right turn on a stop sign . This is formula 1 for god's sake, where the cars are running at speeds over 200kmph..
He took a line going in and the car pushed him to the far end of the circuit .. It's pyshics - Rosberg should know the speed they are going in and automatically predict that he has no chance and run off track or back off.. This is why this is a non issue for him..

If Hamilton had not accelerated as quickly out of the corner, he would've had better chances of not getting that far to the outside. It isn't as simple as "turn - there is the line defined".

Yes definitely, in fact if LH had shown the consideration to use only 80% of the throttle down the straight it would never have come to this(I'm pretty sure NR would've given him a double hazard light flash thank you indication as he passed as well).

What are these guys thinking using all the track like that, it's just plain irresponsible! They surely would lose at most only 15 to 20 seconds per lap if they just stayed in the middle of the road instead of driving around like hooligans as if they were on a race track...  oh wait hang on a minute :rotfl:
