and what does consistency has to do with speed we are talking about?!

This little discussion started when someone tagged Lotus stint as exceptional. Then someone else said he didn´t agree because of missed wins. Then I said the stint CAN be considered exceptional because of the WDC position endings. It isn´t about any opinion on the OP poll, it´s about different views of the overall quality of the Lotus stint. And as such, the data I reminded you it´s VERY relevant.

Exceptionally well? I think his good race performances were clouded by a combo of poor qualis and the chassis race favouring traits. He should have won way more than 2 races. One of which was inherited. I agree he has lost a considerable degree of speed. He was once the absolute fastest, scary scary fast, but now would probably struggle to hang on to a Hamilton/Vettel coattails come quali. I think he'll get on top of Alonso on pace come the end of the season. He is still remarkably clean and is consistent in races and error free.

He did a great job, especially having been away for two seasons.

Yes - he should have won more races. One which springs to mind was Germany last year, which was down to decisions made on the pitwall. Equally, had he been more ruthless, he'd probably have won Bahrain 2012.
