AD has long straights, will it affect them? same goes for USA, but i guess they can accelerate quicker and then use the eighth gear.

 

Yeah I think they will go the Williams route and have 7 short gears and an overdrive 8th.

I don't expect their ratios to be a close as Williams though. More gear changes increases wear and tear on hardware which is amplified now that parts have alot of milage on them.

The maximum speed we saw at Monza, unaided by the use of slipstreaming was almost 353.8km/h by Nico Rosberg.  Compared that to 2007, I recall they ran skinnier rear wings back then: http://www.formula1....speed_trap.html

With the long straights, they'll be safe to Red Bull. I think had they not changed them they would've been vulnerable, especially next week.
