The forum members may be interested to know that the Collier collection (now REVS Institute, I believe...DCN can clarify) jn Naples, Florida, is now open to the public.

Some additional information is here:

http://www.sportscar...ow-open-public/

This is one of the most incredible collections I have seen, beautifully presented and in a stunning facility.  If you come to Florida (please do!), skip Disney World....see this instead!

Yep,   one of my best friends has a house about 10 miles north-  he just visited last week, it is just north of the Naples airport.  I've wanted to get in that place for the last 20 years but never was there when the Porsche club had a private tour...

3 days a week- have to buy tickets ahead of time-  Revs Institute has a webpage with all the info.

I visited with my parents back in 1990. I could absolutely understand their insurance issues. The value of the collection must be in the mid-nine digits (in US dollars).

Delighted to read it is open again to the public!

Fabulous. I'll be in Florida late August early September so will hopefully organise a visit.

I've just noticed photography is permitted (without flash). I heard it wasn't allowed in the past so this is a bonus.

Edit: How disappointing - it seems it's closed during August and September  ):

The TV news is showing Hurricane Irma slamming Naples, FL; hope Revs/Collier facility makes it through okay.

(Of course, wishing the best for all Floridians today.)

Just watched the Weather Channel's coverage of Hurricane Irma hitting Naples. Winds gusted to 140 mph at the Naples airport, a stone's throw from the Collection on Horseshoe Drive. Best wishes to all of the folks there for their families' safety and that of the artifacts housed there.

Geez, we went through Naples in December and didn't know it's open again!

I think it'll be okay, surely accommodations are in place for a hurricane (says my optimistic side).

My BIL lives about 15 miles north and slightly east of the museum.  The eye went RIGHT over his house-  said it was surreal.  Lost a few roof tiles and some trees.  Collier collection is much closer to the gulf- hope the storm surge didn't get to it!!!

The Revs Digital Library has finally moved to it's new server and software.

http://library.revsi...te.org/digital/

The search facility is terrible and the images are now disfigured with abominable watermarks.
It looks like hours of happy browsing have now gone the journey to oblivion

In recent months, I have seen listings for pirated images from the Revs institute library on eBay, so it's sad but not surprising that they have locked down the image library.

A sign of the times, unfortunately. ):
