Re Mike Gore, is there any real evidence that he ever owned or raced this car, i.e, a program or photo?
He did race some good cars in the early 70's such as ex Beecheey ATCC winning Monaro and ex Jane Transam Mustang. I thought he then gave racing away.
Ray, re the ex Thomson Torans V8, I thought that went to Greg Crick in Tasmania?
I think the "Old racing cars" may have this wrong about the Lola, and that is whereBrenton Griguol picked it up from. I wonder what evidence they had?
The wording on the "oldracingcars" site is a little strange:
"before being acquired by Mike Gore (Aus) by Lincoln Small (UK)"
This does not read properly!
Mike Gore was in enormous debt by the late 80's from his Sanctuary Cove development. He was desperately trying to avoid liquidation.
He fled to Canada in 1989 to escape creditors.
It is therefore EXTREMELY unlikely that he would be buying this Lola in 1989. He had other things on his mind.....
Lola5000 what do yoiu base your statement on that he owned this Lola?
For background on Mike and Craifg Gore refer to http:/moreongore.blogspot.com.au
Skipping through the financial shenanigans it is interesting to see the deals that both Mike and Craig did with TONY COCHRANE.
I wasn't aware of these before reading this.
Mike Gore died in 1994 in USA.
I believe Mike Gore raced that car a few times in the 70s. Wether he owned it is another story, as did Frank actually own it or just drove [and possibly maintained} it.
As for Thommos Torana Chev that ended up with the Lustys I think. Though it may have had a Tasmanian holiday too. But I dont think Greg Crick ever raced that car. Gene Cook I feel was the one that had it. Black with gold signwriting.
The Jane car went to WA.
As did my far later XU1 Chev though it is in Victoria now.
