Re Mike Gore, is there any real evidence that he ever owned or raced this car, i.e, a program or photo?

He did race some good cars in the early 70's such as ex Beecheey ATCC winning Monaro and ex Jane Transam Mustang. I thought he then gave racing away.

Ray, re the ex Thomson Torans V8, I thought that went to Greg Crick in Tasmania?

I think the "Old racing cars" may have this wrong about the Lola, and that is whereBrenton Griguol picked it up from. I wonder what evidence they had?

The wording on the "oldracingcars" site is a little strange:

"before being acquired by Mike Gore (Aus) by Lincoln Small (UK)"

This does not read properly!

Mike Gore was in enormous debt by the late 80's from his Sanctuary Cove development. He was desperately trying to avoid liquidation.

He fled to Canada in 1989 to escape creditors.

It is therefore EXTREMELY unlikely that he would be buying this Lola in 1989. He had other things on his mind.....

Lola5000 what do yoiu base your statement on that he owned this Lola?

For background on Mike and Craifg Gore refer to http:/moreongore.blogspot.com.au

Skipping through the financial shenanigans it is interesting to see the deals that both Mike and Craig did with TONY COCHRANE.

I wasn't aware of these before reading this.

Mike Gore died in 1994 in USA.

I believe Mike Gore raced that car a few times in the 70s. Wether he owned it is another story, as did Frank actually own it or just drove [and possibly maintained} it.

As for Thommos Torana Chev that ended up with the Lustys I think. Though it may have had a Tasmanian holiday too. But I dont think Greg Crick ever raced that car. Gene Cook I feel was the one that had it. Black with gold signwriting.

The Jane car went to WA.

As did my far later XU1 Chev though it is  in Victoria now.

Lee, if you believe that Mike Gore raced the Lola, can you please simply state where and when?

The overall opinion is that he did not.

I don't believe the Jane TransAm went to WA. You may be confused with the ex Cusack/Allen Trans Am that did.

Hi, I believe I read it on the 5000 thread, or maybe Allen Browns site.

Trans Am? I was talking about the Torana Chev that went to Ian Diffen.

Your belief that Gore raced this Lola is not supported by any evidence.

You quote Allen Brown's site but that says the car was in the US until 1975, then disappeared until 1985.

So where did he race it "a few times in the 70's"

And if as per Brown, Gore didn't buy the car until 1989 how was he racing it in the 70's.

Ray Bell says Gore was never involved with F5000. You say he was. Who do I trust?

Gents,

As I am the person that authorises the C of Ds I can absolutely state M.Gore was an owner which does not necessarily

indicate it was raced by him .

The C of D is to record the ownership history not the race history , sometimes they co-incide , however a lot of historic race cars

change hands to people with good intent to restore and race however circumstances change and they move on to the next ''restorer''.

On the subject of Mike Gore, I know he's on Australian Touring Car Races Vol 2. He's being interviewed (Four Corners?) in regards to professionalism in motorsport.

For some reason I thought he raced the car in period, the 70s.

I feel Brenton may have that opinion too.

Can one therefore assume there is a record of the date this COD was issued for M Gore?

The Certificate of Description isn't issued to previous owners .

The C of D lists the owners of the car who may have raced the car or not.

The subject car was imported by Phil Harris and Barry Lee who restored the car and raced it a few times

and the car was sold and went to M.Gore of Qld. who did nothing with the car and it was sold to the U.K.

and I was very surprised when it all came back up for C of D when it was re-imported .

CAMS has numerous cars that have multiple owners none of whom have ever raced the car , some of these

are projects that go from one home to another until someone actually finishes the car however all owners are

listed as they should be to keep a provenance trail.

Mr. Gore was never issued with a C of D as he wasn't the original applicant , a CAMS Historic logbook would have

been issued to Harris/Lee as they were the applicants and then on change of ownership the car SHOULD have

been transferred to M.Gore , whether this was done prior the car being exported to the U.K. I have no knowledge.

In the CAMS files will be a timeline for M.Gore's ownership, probably late 1980s early / mid. 1990s from memory

I am very confused by your comments.

Your waffle in post #64 seems at direct odds to your categorical comment to open post #56, namely "As I am the person that authorises the Cof D's I can absolutely state that M Gore was an owner".

In that period of time C & D's were not part of the CAMS historic ownership papers. An historic log book was issued for the car to race, its well known Gore owned that Lola,as a financier repossessed it of him.

Waffle...a word often used by 18c European history teachers.LOL.

Lynton, these shots are sensational! Do you go to all Mallala race meetings?

Hello everyone - does any one have Ian Ross's email address or phone number? I have just discovered that I have a VHS of the 1986 AGP featuring Wee Jackie in the cockpit of the Beatrice Lola. I will be happy to burn a DVD for him.

I keep talking about it, but other things...you know.......
