Not really expecting much for this weekend. Season is as good as over and I can't really see Ferrari on the podium, let alone a victory this season.

Well, as long as they only get lapped once by the Mercs.

Let's wait what will happen today/tomorrow.

My biggest hope is new engine map....everything else is a spit in the ocean.

Prevent us lot from having a heart attack, as we believed a lot of updates were meant for this race

maybe the plan is to lower the expectations of you lot, to cause an even bigger "WOW" effect with the actual upgrades. :p

Between Fernando's last positive comments on the press and something that he uploaded on twitter half hour ago, is hard not to have some hope in this weekend "upgrades", hardly remember him so positive and motivated this year. Let's hope that everything works as expected.

You mean this ''Ganas de subirme al coche y que empiece los entrenos de este GP'' ?

 What's so special in it?

I for one am happy I was sceptical about this 'massive upgrade' bulls**t. There looks and I emphasis *looks* to be absolutely nothing.

Looks like pre-Spain, to me. No need for the monkey seat as its a low DF track.

From Marc Gene.

Different things in both cars, in FP2 they will change this "things" to test them in the other car.

Wow. Just based on the car movement in FP1, this car is still a handful to drive. Jesus.

Hopefully it will get better once it's set up.

He just did a very fast lap. I really hope these upgrades are for real.

Alonso car seems stable. Raikkonen car is just an another Ferrari, looks like the first version of F2012.

Perhaps the upgrades in Kimi's car didn't work as good. In any case, they will switch upgrades in FP2 according to Gené, so then we will have a better picture.

Looks like Ferrari have entirely new sidepods and engine cover on Alonso's car. By the looks of it it would seem like there was some repackaging as well.

Can't be too sure though.

Räikkönen reported engine loss power and team said they could see there was knocking in the engine.
Villadelprat was next to the garage and says the team is telling it is software issues, again. Don't know if they did a quick fix or really fixed it

Well, not bad, is not real and we often run with low fuel in friday but something must be working. Let's see what happen later, I think Ricciardo didn't get a clean lap or something happen with him.

Could be that Kimi was testing the new fuel which Shell brought. It was said that Shell was working on a fuel that gave significant gains but that it caused engine knocking earlier in the year.

Engine knocking for those who don't understand is a phenomenon that occurs when combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder ignites correctly but one or more pockets of air-fuel mixture explode outside normal combustion.

It make sense to me :

Alonso with the new package but old fuel.

Raikkonen with the old package but new fuel.

I don't understand why they need to give one package to one guy and another package to the other. Especially since rain is coming in FP2.

Just use the same goddamn updates on both cars, for Christ's sake. There's hardly enough time as it is.

Villadelprat said it was Räikkönen's PU having software issues again, and then they began to joke about how, with the same engines, all the gremlins go to Kimi's car. From there I will think it is a normal, non-fuel type, problem. But, of course, they might have got it not fully right (or I got it wrong), and I might have been what you said.

Maybe, they want to test that the developments are indeed better than the old package. If that is the case, they have aaaaawsome confidence in their development team...

Ferrari always back to back updates. Nothing new.

Kimi will run new parts in FP2 and Alonso will take on whatever Kimi was running in FP1 as to test update package as a whole. Also makes sense that Alonso got the package in FP1 as he was the one doing the testing in the simulator.

Maybe they put the updates on Fernandos car as he's less sensitive than Kimi, he might not have liked they way it made his steering feel?

I prefer your version because it means the fuel can be run and that means more pace if it works as intended.

they did that last year with Massa as well, you were just not paying attention.. in some races Massa would test them first.

Saw it on TV. Yes, the sidepods seem slightly adjusted but I'd definitely go with new engine cover. Look at the area around the exhaust.

Do it on dry weekends.

Not when FP1 is dry and FP2 is wet.

Exactly. They made huge change on engine cover and sidepods since Melbourne. At first, we ran with overcut like Red Bull did in the past, and now, it's looks like the good old acer duct. They change the complete layout of the rear, it's a huge amount of work. I really don't understand those saying Ferrari bring nothing, open your eyes guys.

I'm not sure that all updates was already in the car/s, Sky Italy showed two massive Ferrari boxes arriving in the paddock when free practice was already on.

Could be for the other car although I'm still to see the new front wing Kravitz is on about.

Spanish tv reporter said probably new floor for Kimi's car. Not sure.

I really hope that this is more or less real and RedBull and the other teams will be behind Ferrari here.

Merc will be still 1+ sec ahead if the rest come Qualy. 1.17.284 is a slow time, Last year Alonso topped practice with 1.14.818 to give you an idea of the benchmark. Figure Mer will be doing low 1.15 in qualy and we will be lucky to do low 1.16

The rear of the sidepods look to extend beyond the wishbones now, or am I seeing things? engine cover is different too.  Also they went back to the twin pillar supports, maybe the single pylon didn't work as well with this new rear?
