This weekend the new FA1 World Series will kick off the season.

Today and yesterday there were test days, but with now information...

Those driver are confirmed due to wikipedia:

Belgium (Azerti): Nigel Melker (I thought that he should drive for Netherland, but now it's Belgium, no idea what's the case on that)

France (team not known yet): Tom Dillmann

Germany (GU): Sebastian Balthasar

Mexico (RC): Picho Toledano

Sweden (Performance): Felix Rosenqvist

Has anyone more information who should drive for whom?

I'm sorry, but what on earth is the FA1 World Series?   Is this some new series or re-imaging of a failed feeder championship, in a typical attempt to make it sound more important. The main thing I found by googling the name was aerobatic events, so perhaps that means Mark Webber will appear. ;)

No we have a entry list:

So we have:

4 Sebastian Balthasar - GER (GU)
7 Nigel Melker - NED (Provily)
10 Victor Garcia - ESP (???)
14 Dario Orsini - ITA (???)
15 Sergio Campana - ITA (???)
16 Mirko Bortolotti - ITA (???)
23 Felix Rosenqvist - SWE (Performance)
20 Rodolfo Gonzalez - VEN (???)
38 Picho Toledano - MEX (RC)
42 Armando Parente - POR (Ghinzani)
64 Richard Gonda - SVK
65 Ricardo Teixeira - ANG (Performance)

But what's with Belgium?
Why are there countries with more entries?
And what's with Dillmann?

is it just a coincidence that Campana, Teixeira and Gonda all were not racing Auto GP although there were entered last weekend?

Yep-thats what I thought when I saw the thread title-FAI=federation aeronautic international-or something like that? Think this actually refers to some thing called Formula Aceleration-which seems to be a dupication of AutoGP? Far to many series claiming to be feeder series for F1.

AutoGP is not happy with this.

Looks like Champcars' very failed attempt at ''motor-rock.''

What's the point of having national teams but insisting the driver not be from that nation?

No doubt the series organisers thoroughly investigated what went wrong with A1GP, and concluded this measure should prevent an otherwise inevitable failure.

So, the drivers do not represent the country in any way, which means the idea of national support is void.

Would I support the England rubgy team if all the players came from France? Well ... no.

12 cars in this, 12 in Auto GP.

Merge them and you have a decent field.

autogp cars had a recent body upgrade IIRC, they are much faster than these base iteration.

btw, what happened to those original shark noses of A1 gp Gen 1 cars???'

autogp new car (2013) ... both have same engine like A1gp and the base dimensions are almost same, but the bodywork is totally different.

While the first test model lowered the 2012 version's laptimes by 1.2 seconds per lap (with an estimated 1.5-second improvement) the latest evolution will push that gap to 2 seconds per lap, bringing Auto GP to the same performance level of the World Series Renault 3.5 and the GP2 Series.

design mod was done by scalabroni and other 80's and 90's f1 engineers

Enrique Scalabroni: “I deeply admire and respect Enzo Coloni from a professional point of view and there's also a good friendship between us. With limited resources compared to the major car manufacturers and series promoters, he always managed to develop something very competitive and innovative.

When he asked me for an opinion on his new car, I gave him my advice and we developed some new solutions 2013. It's not the first time, we previously developed the Formula Nissan together and it became a benchmark for its era. I hope it will be a good omen for the new era of Auto GP”.

Forget about the cars, what about the music: David Hasslehoff supported by Samantha Fox!
