Isn't he the voice of Rainier Wolfcastle? I imagine he is paid handsomely for that.

I know I know, mea culpa. He was a used parts dealer once. He is the fancy version of Flavio. He can laugh in Lewis's face and survive to tell the story. His wife introduced him to motorsport. He can speak with an austrian accent and make it charming. He tried to screw Red Bull over acid fuel and sent Niki with a peace cake, and even survived that...

:D

I was quite surprised how tall he was when he was doing an interview with Brundle, Damon Hill and and a few others. He towered above them all by at least a foot.

So he's normal size then?

In the land of midget drivers, the normal sized are giants.

When I met Lewis I was stunned at how small he was compared - to be fair I am 6 foot 6 though.

Helmut Marko not talented ? What planet are you on ?

He was a star in his day, won Le Mans at record speed in '71 driving a Porsche 917, made it to F1 with BRM in '72 - and was then forced to retire having lost an eye due to a stone penetrating his helmet visor (think about that, at high speed) at the '72 French GP at Clermont-Ferrand. He was the big Austrian star at the time, much more so than Niki Lauda (who was a BRM driver the following year).

They have both suffered terribly from racing, but Marko has earned his spurs.

Flavio is record holder on the Nürburgring Nordschleife?

Le Mans winner and prospective Ferrari F1 driver (if not for the accident with the eye) "not a talented" driver .... ok.

Just came by to say, that no matter what I think of a guy the inability to get his name right when opening a thread about him feels a tad more dumb. Bit like fart jokes. Really hard to do them so they are actually funny.

It's been like that for a while.  When I came face to face with Senna, it was more like face (his) to chest (mine).    It's been a long, long time since F1 drivers were regular sized guys (Hunt, Peterson era).

He can speak with an austrian accent and make it charming.

Unrealistic.

David Niven crossed with Sophia Loren couldn't manage that*.

Austria has all the charm of Julia Andrews' armpits - apologies if you like that kind of thing. And to Gerhard Berger. But that's about it.

Edelweiss, sachertorte and angry men with small moustaches? No thanks!

*Nor could Morrisey. Quelle surprise!
