To be honest 2014 season is dull. I know Hamilton and Mercedes fans will say it's exciting, superb, dramatic, but it's not. We can't blame Mercedes, rather we should blame other teams that aren't able to race them. Bahrain Grand Prix is the only bright point of the season tbh. We have one dominating team with one driver a step ahead of the other, much slower laptimes, F1 is unspectacular in one word. However that can be changed on the streets of Monte Carlo. And I really want Red Bull to beat the silver arrows and finally see a competitive race at the front!

I'll be happy with Lewis taking Pole and the win.

I'd be happy to see Lewis come through the field and win, pole to flag is boring.

Perez and Sutil are going to have crappy cars for Monaco I think, so I don't think they'll entertain us during the race. I hate to say but Maldonado might be the only source of entertainment, he should have a top 10 car at least.

Last year was one of the worst races ever. Not much faith in it. But let's see.

Monaco qualifying should be good. The race.... you don't get many exciting races there, even during more competitive seasons. It needs a bit of rain.

You do realise that Red Bull are a step ahead of that lot? Both Mercs out, both Red Bull cruise to finish. Although it may cure some of the angst here, it won't make the race any more interesting or exciting.

Hoping for Monaco to be a shining light in an otherwise dull season strikes me as.........unrealistic.

Has there been any conversation about how Williams have suddenly developed proper rocketship starts since Massa/ smedley have joined them? Must have transferred some Ferrari techniques

Yes i do but anything other than the 1 plus sec difference Mercedes have over the rest is welcome at this point.

Also Monaco isnt the typical RB circuit..its all about mechanical grip...and RBs advantage over the rest right now is clearly not insurmountable.... So u never know someone like Lotus might actually spring a surprise here.

The Merc domination is just as boring as the RBR domination, but at least we get to watch them fight it out once in awhile.  Rosberg & Ham battling it out in Q3 on their "home' turf should be fun to watch. I can't see any other team having the genuine pace to beat Merc for at least this half of the season though.

I also suspect theirs going to be some dirty overtakes at the nouvelle chicane again.

Monaco was a better circuit before they opened up the track towards the end. They lessened the challenge and added no overtaking possibilities.

Yeha, JB will manage to finish on points once again.

On a serious note, i doubt mclaren will be able to do anything in monaco, in Canada is a different story.

I'm hoping Bottas or Massa get to the front, loving the Williams comeback. Correct me if I'm wrong but if Massa won wouldn't he break Patrese's record for gaps between GP wins? If so, got to be a reason to root for him!

The twisty track should reduce some of Merc's advantage.  The bulls, Williams, FI and perhaps even Lotus could possibly challenge. :)

It'll be tense in case someone touches a barrier with these unruly cars, otherwise it's 10 minutes on Saturday and 1 second on Sunday.

The RBR looks good on the brakes, so it could be closer, at least.

I would love it it Pirelli brought the medium and hard again. Having to watch them go at full speed to attempt to keep those tyres up to tempature with these new machines would be magnificent.

It always somethin I wondered with Pirelli is Monaco was always going to be a one stop but they brought there 2012/13 superstores and softs and all it made them do was tip toe round preserving them. If they want for even softs and mediums atleast the drivers would of had to drive hard to keep the pace up creating a far better spectacle, especially with the walls of Monaco

Sadly some people are like this ^^ and even their driver winning by 50 seconds would be utter excitement for them

as for Monaco, sadly I'm expecting another Merc demonstration 'cruise'..

I don't see why it is "sad".  It is exciting to see man and machine meld to outperform the field so excellently (in this case two men and two machines).  The rest of the teams/drivers can add to that excitement by bringing a challenge to the frontrunners or among themselves behind the leader.

If all else fails, we have the sight and sound (and if lucky, smell) of pure motoring brilliance to delight our senses.

I love racing.  :D

I feel it could be a close race or at least qualifying. It won't be such a power race it will be more to do with how well your car handles. I think it could be a good race. :)

Not quite.... Riccardo waited 7 years.

Massa currently 6 years.

Seriously... you are rolling your eyes because somebody professed a preference for a driver to take pole and victory... LOL to that. 90% of people on here have a preference, so roll your eyes back in the opposite direction before you fall of your woodworm ridden high horse.

Professed a preference for another dull, lights to flag victory, which said driver in question didn't prefer either a few races back.

Theres really not been much 'racing' recently tbh.  (no, I don't consider the last few laps of Spain 'racing' as Nico was never going to pass imo)

The lead battle isnt the only interesting battle in a motorrace.

It would be nice to see a challenge to the Merc's but ultimately I would like to see Lewis win the race. If he started from 5th or 6th place, that would be much more of an achievement than a pole and cruise victory IMO. It won't happen though and one of the Merc drivers will get pole I think. Monaco is one of my least favourite GP's of the year so it won't be one I make the effort to watch live anyway.
