I AM CURRENTLY WRITING A BOOK ON FORMER RACER STEPHEN SOUTH.

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO HAS MEMORIES/RECOLLECTIONS OF STEPHEN FROM HIS DAYS IN FF1600,F.3,F.2 AND CAN-AM PLUS F.1 TESTING.

I STARTED THE PROJECT OVER 12 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE MADE CONTACT WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE FROM STEPHEN's CAREER BUT ARE ALWAYS LOOKING OUT FOR MORE ESPECIALLY ON THE LOOK OUT FOR PHOTOGRAPHS OF STEPHEN, PREFERABLY ONES WHICH HAVN'T BEEN PUBLISHED BEFORE.

FOR THE ABOVE OR IF YOU REQUIRE ANY FURTHER DETAILS,PLEASE CONTACT ME ON

An advanced search for "Stephen South" turned up this old thread and this one plus two pages of others which include references to him.

For those who don't know, using the "Search" box on the top right of the screen only searches the current forum.  Clicking on the "cog wheel" to the right of the box opens up the Advanced Search function.  If you put in your parameters and click on "The Nostalgia forum" in "Find in forum".  This will search the current forum plus the sub forums (Motorcycle Racing, Racing Collectables, Historical Research and TNF's Archive)

Welcome Darren.  I'm sure there are people here on TNF who will be only to happy to help you.

For those who don't know Darren, he was a race mechanic and ran South in F3 in the 1970s but better known to me through Race-Lit, his automobilia company.  A Stephen South biography is a very worthy project so please give him any help you can.

Hi Allen,

Thanks for the welcome

While i would have loved to have been a race mechanic and ran Stephen in the 1970's sadly that is not true, I used to race mechanic for my brother Stephen in FF in the 1980's not quite the same, the bit about RACE-lit is correct

Thanks,

Darren

Darren

You've picked a fascinating subject there, well worthy of a book.

Good luck with it, you can certainly put me down for a copy.

Best wishes

Paul

All the best Darren, I'd take 1 too. However, I gather Stephen's was reticent to discuss his career before. Has this changed, or are you going ahead without his input?

Darren, I suspect you must have spoken to John Stokes, but if not you are welcome to drop me a line.

Your book sounds great but might I suggest you turn your capslock off?

Thanks :)
