Marussia collected the first points in the 83th race of the team - that must be a record.

What team held that record before?

What 10 teams had the most races before collecting the first points?

One formal matter as well.

Depends if you count Virgin Racing in there as well. Teams have often changed names/owners even if the base (factory) has remained the same. Hence their statistics have been counted separately.

2009 Chinese GP was Red Bull Racing's first win, not second (first one being Stewart-Ford in 1999).

Well Nicola Larini holds the driver record, with 44 races before his first point. Officially, Marussia is on 44 races as well.

Colini did 65 races without ever scoring a point.

Virgin and Marussia was both running from Booth's Manor squad, so it's the same team, but a different name/owner. So for me they have 83 races.

So back to question: Who was leading that record before?

Minardi needed 53 races for first points.

I think it would be better to look for first "top 10 finish" since in the past only top 8, 6 and so on scored?

Yeah, but I think nowadays it is harder to finish the race in top10, than it was to finish inside the top6 in eighties, due to increased reliability and enormous level of professionalism, budget and facilities among all teams competing now in F1. Marussia is nowhere near as slow compared to the frontrunners as some point-scoring teams were in the past.

I think today it's more difficult to finish in top-10 than 30 years ago in top-6. So no: My questions still is for the teams with most races until first points.

One notable one is Toleman. No points in their first 37 races - and then they scored in their 38th, 39th, 40th and 41st races. Talk about monkey off back.

It took Osella 67 races against a full field before they scored points; obviously they stole a threesome at the 14 car San Marino GP.

It took BMW 30 years from their debut to score their first points as an engine manufacturer...
