I thought I knew most of Standard Triumph/British Leyland offerings but 10 or 12 days ago I was rained off from relaying my terrace tiles and was reduced to watching a BBC programme titled Antiques Road Trip. I won't bore you with the details but it involves poncing round in oldish cars. one of these was described as a Triumph 2000 Sports, it looked ALMOST like a Spitfire but not quite, rather better looking any ideas on it?

I stand to be corrected but I believe it to be a one off "customised" by it's present owner. It visited the Ace cafe a few years ago and It has no wet weather gear as far as I could see. It's probably called a triumph 2000 sports because the the owner grafted in a six cylinder 2 litre triumph engine. did it look like this?

I guessed that Gary, however I did a bit of googling and kept getting references to Spitfire MkIV 2000. This was of course prior to the 1500 which was a MK V. I just wondered if somebody had done an in house job with a GT 6 chassis (how different is that from a Herald/Spitfire frame?) and put a soft top body on it. Who was the last comps manager at ST? Was it Seth-Smith?
